I am legitimately embarrassed to be talking about this because so many of the people I see make this whole bookstagram thing seem EFFORTLESS! 🙈

But I recently talked to someone that said they followed me because of my “bad at bookstagram” post and I confessed that I felt like such a hypocrite for having it on my page still. I made it when I had under 2000 followers and felt like I was floundering (I still feel that way FYI) but I would love to keep being honest about my struggles here and as a reader. I just didn’t want people to think I was ungrateful for the followers that I do have…
Because that’s the exact OPPOSITE of the truth!!

I started this page just before I started working from home, and as much as I love being home with the dogs all day, it can be really isolating… luckily, I made so many genuine friends on here, that I don’t feel that way at all!

Anyway, the person I spoke to encouraged me to talk about how I feel and my struggles no matter what because it’s real, honest, and authentically me.

…So here I am 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thank you to everyone that follows me, likes my posts, leaves a comment, or shares anything I put out there. The bookish community is the most supportive one I’ve been a part of, and I’m so lucky to be here with you all 🫶🏻

@realbookishbee posted recently about how some people on here are feeling lost, lonely, and as though you are the only ones seeing your own posts. And frankly, that sucks!

She made a shout out offering to send love and hype to anyone feeling that way if they tag her, and I want to echo that sentiment. I don’t care if you have ten followers or if your post took ten minutes to make. I started this account to hype up indie authors and see if I could find some friends to chat nonsense with, and I have been lucky enough to find some fantastic people. I never want anyone to feel isolated on here.

So, feeling as though you’re chatting to nothing and no one? Tag me.

Really proud of a post that you don’t think anyone has even noticed? @ me in the comments.

Want to collab on something you’ve made but imposter syndrome is being a dick? Send it to me.

Want to scream with someone in DMs about a book you’re loving? DM me.

Want to enter a giveaway but need to tag a friend? Chuck mine down.

Basically, I’m on this app to interact with people, so hey! 👋

Also @realbookishbee said it far more eloquently than I could, so go look at her post too!

Week 2 of TBR Tuesdays is all about the books that made us GASP, emotionally wrecked us, kept us up way too late, or left us wishing we could experience them for the very first time all over again, and you might just find your next five-star read in the mix.
👇 Which book had YOU absolutely losing it? Tell us in the comments!
Save this one. Your future reading self will thank you.

Well. This post is @realbookishbee’s fault.
Bethany asked what my biggest Bookstagram icks were.
Apparently she thought I was capable of answering a simple question like a normal person instead of producing an entire carousel of grievances.
Ma’am. You opened a can of worms. 😭

Some of these genuinely make my eye twitch. Others are things I complain about while actively contributing to the problem.

Self-awareness is important. Personal growth is optional. 😌

And before anyone comes for me, these are MY grievances. Not commandments from the Ministry of Reading.
You’re absolutely allowed to love everything I complain about. In fact, PLEASE DO. The comments would be considerably less entertaining if we all agreed.
That’s half the fun of talking about books. Different tastes, different interpretations and occasionally some very questionable fictional crushes.

📚 QOTD: What’s your biggest bookish ick?
