3 years ago i was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. i wore a really weird hairstyle because i remember thinking how do you style your hair to get diagnosed with cancer & my parents & i listened to Rumours Live on repeat

i barely knew what sarcoma was and had nooooo clue what i was up against and because of that had essentially no fear. i thought i would get really sick for 3 months from chemo in dallas or LA and throw up a few times and then go back to my life. i was told not to google anything so i was clueless to that i would need to move to houston or that my fertility was in jeopardy or that those were my last couple of months walking on two legs and last days walking without crutches

a year ago was my first night moved back to LA sleeping on the floor of my current place

if i could go back and tell that 28 year old something i honestly don’t know that i would? like what is there to say lol

i’ll never be able to explain all of the things that happened in the months following that dx (i hope to try in a memoir someday) or to express the breadth of the outpouring of love from my friends, the support from strangers, or the provision of my family. i don’t really have a point other than it’s childhood cancer awareness month and cancer toooootally fking sucks in 1,000,000+ ways. trust your instincts if you feel like something is off with your body, show up and show up again for those you know are in treatment, and of course and always hug your friends and tell them you love them. i love you!
