Graveyard Shift

Thanks to @oldskoolchallengeclub for another great challenge. Here is a selection of books that have been on my shelves for the longest time. However, since I have just unhauled 154 recently, and these are by my autobuy authors, I will read them at some point.

What book title has been on your bookshelf for the longest time?

I have tagged the usual crew, but anyone can have a go.

🌟BIRTHDAY APPRECIATION POST🌟
September was a very busy month for me. It kicked off with celebrating my 60th birthday! Yikes, how did that happen?? We celebrated in style onboard a cruise to the med/Adriatic coast and had an absolutely fab week. My husband and I celebrate our birthdays on the same day, and we were well and truly spoilt by Royal Caribbean and very well looked after. We came back from that trip for just 5 days, before flying out to the Algarve for my niece’s wedding. Surrounded by my close family, it was a truly wonderful 5 nights. The wedding was amazing and my niece looked stunning!

With all the excitement, I didn’t get a chance to thank the lovely bookstagrammers who took the time to send me some incredible books. You can see from the tags below, who sent me what – thank you so much to all of you, I am completely overwhelmed by your generosity! As you can see, I received an incredible stack of fabulous books, that I cannot wait to tuck into.

If you swipe to the next pic, you will see some more amazing bookish gifts which I received from some of my non-bookstagram friends, as well as a couple of very cute cat bookmarks from @bookplantsetc and @zoebeesnextchapter and a gorgeous smelling candle from @jo_scho_reads You will, without doubt, see this delightful green candle popping up on my feed in the not too distant future! Let’s not forget the stunning, personalised, wooden book ornament which I am completely in love with.

⁉️Have you read any of these? Which one would you start with?⁉️

📚The Chain by Adrian Mckinty - Clair @always_needs_more-books
📚The Stray Dogs by Ruth Hogan – Zoe @zoebeesnextchapter
📚The Art of a Lie by Laura Shepherd-Robinson - Debbie @booksplantsetc
📚Penitence by Kristin Koval – Jo @jo_scho-reads
📚Unreliable Narrator by Araminta Hall – Jo @jo_scho-reads
📚59 Minutes by Holly Seddon – Becky @beckys_book_blog
📚Ask For Andrea by Noelle W Ihli – Kelly @bookwormblloggs
📚The Break In by Katherine Faulkner – Becky @beckys_book_blog
📚Laws of Love and Logic by Debra Curtis – Jo @jo_scho_reads
📚Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth – Debbie @booksplantsetc
📚Hide And Seek by Chris Carter – Zoe @zoebeesnextchapter

Bookitechture

Another challenge from #oldskoolchallengeclub

Here are the first six books I could find that have buildings on the front. They were all sent to me by publishers and are all hardbacks bar one. The top three are on my TBR pile. The bottom three I have read and they are all 5 star reads.

I have tagged the usual crew but anyone can have a go.

I'm definitely a fan of beautiful buildings. What is your favourite building? Mine is probably the Waterstones shop in Newcastle. The exterior so beautiful. I also like all the old buildings and houses in York and Harrogate.

I have tagged the usual crew, but anyone can have a go.

✨ᒪEGGYᒪIᑕIOᑌᔕ ✨

It’s week four in the #oldskoolchallenge and I’m doing 2 of the challenges this week. First up is #leggylicious … a flatlay of covers featuring LEGS! I knew I had to go for this one because one my first ever bookstagram post was of legs on book covers. Swipe to see that one…a few of the same books are making a reappearance. (And hope you agree that my staging has improved! 🤣)

How long have you been on bookstagram? It’s been 6 years and 4 months for me!

The usual taggy stuff!

Leggylicious

Thanks to @oldskoolchallengeclub for their latest challenge #leggylicious with book front covers featuring legs in some way. These were the first 9 I could find and they are all on my TBR pile.

Do you like getting your legs out?

I'm quite tall and I would say my legs are my best feature. I do like wearing skirts and dresses for work or when it is warm.

I have tagged the usual crew in the challenge, but anyone can have a go.

#datewithabook challenge courtesy of #oldskoolchallengeclub and @hook.me.a.book .

Here is my selection:

Who is the date with: Finn Rhodes Forever

Where is the date: The Lido

What time is the date: After The Last Dance

What did I wear: Innocence

What did we talk about: Other People's Weddings

Will there be a second date: Maybe, Perhaps, Possibly

I have tagged the usual crew, but anyone can have a go.

Where did you go on your first ever date? I went to the cinema with this lad called Michael when I was in college. I can’t actually remember what we went to see. My memory is getting shockingly bad. It took him ages to text me again.

🌟Old Skool Book Challenge🌟
It’s been a very long time since I’ve done a book challenge post but my lovely bookstagram friends Dee @chapter1.page1 Audrey @hook.me.a.book and Jac @jac_in_a_book have set up an #oldskoolchallengeclub
Each week they will each suggest a different challenge for bookstagrammers to choose from and post on. Once the challenges have been set, it will result in a flurry of activity whereby I will be found pouring over the challenges set, choosing which one to post on and subsequently, delving into my bookshelves (of which there are many!) to find the books that best meet the criteria set. It’s all in the name of good old-fashioned fun!

So, this week, I have chosen to go with Audrey’s @hook.me.a.book suggestion of a #gameshowstack

Now, I did find some titles that would have hit the criteria if dubious and scary is the name of the game for you! However, I decided to stick with more mainstream titles to keep it more family orientated, well with the exception of one, which maybe isn’t so family friendly. Which one of the below do you think that could be?

So, without further ado, my game show stack consists of:

📚Knock Knock by Michelle Teahan
📚The Family Game by Catherine Steadman
📚Deal Breaker by Harlan Coben
📚Tell Me What I Am by Una Mannion
📚The Hating Game by Sully Thorne
📚The Secret Thread by Eve Chase
📚Marking Time by Elizabeth Jane Howard

From the above, I have read The Secret Thread and have recently listened to The Family Game on audio. Marking Time is my current audiobook – which is fab! The rest are still to be read – no surprise there!

⁉️If you had to choose which game show you would participate in, based purely on the names above, which one sounds the most interesting to you? I think I would go with The Secret Thread.⁉️

I’ve tagged some of you to join in with this challenge but if you’re reading this and haven’t been tagged, please feel free to join in the fun – remember to tag me too to make sure I don’t miss your post!

If you would like to join the chat associated with these challenges, please feel free to message either Dee, Jac or Audrey. They would love to hear from you!
