Are you team sardine?

Troyls were a traditional Cornish celebration to mark the end of the pilchard season.
The tradition was lost but new sardine celebrations are emerging.
I had the absolute honour of partaking in one a few weeks ago.
The learning opportunities did not disappoint.

P.s. I don’t think I should be allowed near a grill full of sardines again. 🤣
& I had the worst case of imposter syndrome the night before stepping on stage.

Peach season is here 🍑🔥 — and we can’t get this peach summer recipe out of our heads👀

Chef Chris Mackett has exclusively created this delicious summer recipe for Bryant & May: caramelised peaches with lemon verbena cream, fresh raspberries and crushed amaretti biscuits.

The peaches are sprinkled with demerara sugar before being grilled until beautifully caramelised, then finished with generous spoonfuls of softly whipped lemon verbena cream, raspberries, fresh verbena and a scattering of amaretti.

Simple, seasonal and the perfect way to celebrate peaches at their best.

You’ll need:
4 peaches, halved
3 tbsp demerara sugar
200ml double cream
40g icing sugar
1 tbsp chopped lemon verbena
6 amaretti biscuits, crushed
16 raspberries
Fresh lemon verbena, to garnish

Our sell-out Paella evening was the perfect mixture of relaxed family style eating-alfresco!
With Chef Mark Lloyds Spanish inspired menu. Our guests feasted on Pintxos. Padron peppers. Grilled Octopus salad. A lux Paella packed with seafood …Manchego & honey and finished with a divine Pedro Ximénez Sabayon! It’s safe to say that no one went home hungry!
The weather (thankfully) was perfect.
Drink flowed. Family and friends chatted, made memories and basically had the most fantastic evening!
Huge thanks to all our wonderful customers who make these evenings such a joy!
Thanks also to chef Mark Lloyd and chef Paul who were a joy to work alongside with their sunny personalities and fabulously curated menu.

Today we went to the sardine festival down in Brixham! The weather was fantastic and so was the atmosphere! Everyone was so happy to be there, eating fresh sardines, drinking cider and listening to live music 🎶

WOW. Brixham, there are no words!! But let’s try and find some...

Yesterday, over 3,500 (!!) people came down to Brixham Harbour for a humble sardine, and we served over 10,000 of them!! If there was any doubt that us “fussy Brits” have an appetite for its own magnificent fish, then surely yesterday we put it to rest.

This festival doesn’t happen without a lot of people chipping in. HUGE thank yous to every chef who travelled down, fired up a grill and cooked behind those scorching grills in the midday sun! To the bands, the street performers and the speakers who brought top-tier entertainment all day. Our incredible volunteers and all of our sponsors.

And of course, the biggest THANK YOU to the community of Brixham. A celebration isn’t possible with support and good vibes, and you brought that and so much more.

The humble sardine has been overlooked for too long. Two summers celebrating it in Brixham and we’re only just getting started. Same time next year, yeah??

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting an intimate breakfast with @lechameau1927.

Guests enjoyed a thoughtfully curated spread courtesy of @brunch_club_swindon alongside refreshing beverages from @lost_sheep_coffee, @thepicklehouse and @tobyandcodrinks🥐

Wonderful company, delicious sweet treats and brilliant craftsmanship was the perfect way to kick off The Game Fair 2026.
