What a blast🩷🩷🩷

Note to all of you dreamers / creatives out there… it can be hard to keep on chasing the thing day after day, even when we love it. But here’s the important thing….

Find your people….Get to know them…
Hang out even when you’re not writing a song. Laugh at stupid stuff.

And always have @dianataub “take a photo” of you… she will take 4000 and will have you cracking up in the process🩷🩷🩷

I love these people!

Psychotherapist and songwriter Bill O’Hanlon (is back again!) and he joins us with J4, a multi-instrumentalist, artist & producer as we discuss their collaborative album ‘Being of Sound Mind,’ which explores mental health themes through music. They share insights on the creative process, mental health journeys, the power of music and how it fosters understanding and healing.

And if there’s one thing they hope this album brings it’s this: “Let me reassure your soul that someone knows you, let me reassure your soul that someone cares.” ~ Essra Mohawk

Follow them to support this important project and get updates on their upcoming album release (coming October 2026)!

A note from Bill & J4 about Anxiety:

Anxiety. When it comes on strong, you want to be anywhere but in your skin. It can torture you with insomnia, panic attacks, phobias and other daily sufferings. As a psychotherapist for 40+ years, it was perhaps the most common issue I saw.
I suffered from anxiety myself. Shy and anxious as a child and, as an adult, social phobia, a severe phobia of dogs that kept me homebound for a while and other forms that hampered my daily life.
It took me some years to overcome my anxiety. Hence this song. It was the first J4 and I wrote for this project, after we had a discussion about how common this was for younger people these days.

One of the things music can do is to validate your experience. Help you feel seen and get a sense you are not alone. We hope this song does that for you.

Here is the 8 line version:
Another friday night same old routine
Corner booth at the mexican canteen
They know our order cuz we come here a lot
They bring mine frozen, yours on the rocks

Your eyes stay glued to whatever's on the screen
While I sit here watching you, not watching me
Maybe tonight i'm a little brain freeze-y
But what seemed so hard just got so easy

And my four line version:
Corner booth at the mexican canteen
Your eyes stay glued to whatever's on the screen
While I sit here watching you, not watching me
Another Friday night, same old routine.
My thanks to the writers @iambkford and @realnatalieotto

Been feeling especially grateful lately for the people I get to sit in rooms with and chase songs beside.

Co-writing is such a strange and beautiful thing - you show up with a title, a feeling, a melody, a half-formed idea, or sometimes nothing at all, and a few hours later there’s a song in the room that didn’t exist before.

Some writes are easy. Some are vulnerable. Some are funny. Some take a left turn none of us saw coming. But every one of them reminds me that songs are often less about forcing something into shape and more about listening closely enough to recognize what’s already trying to arrive.

Grateful for the writers, artists, and friends who keep showing up to do the work, share honestly, and make Nashville feel a little more like home.

More songs soon.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Self-Abandoners. 😎
Because apparently knowing exactly what you feel—and immediately overruling yourself—is a skill set.

I spent years being easy, agreeable, low-maintenance. Turns out, that wasn’t love. It was self-abandonment.

The good news? We can learn to stay with ourselves instead.

My book, Not Alone: From Chasing Connection to Being Connected, is available now—and you can hear more about this in my conversation with @RealNatalieOtto @eagertopleasepodcast episode 61.
Links in bio.

Thank you to the actors @jessicamilko, Aiden milko, and Lenny
