A Premiere Worth Remembering.

Yesterday, we gathered for the premiere of See the Skill. Not Bias. — and what unfolded was bigger than a film screening.

We heard powerful stories from Indigenous tradespeople who shared their experiences with honesty, courage, and pride. We watched conversations take shape between industry leaders, employers, advocates, allies, and community members committed to creating change. We experienced incredible cultural performances, meaningful connections, and a shared commitment to challenging the bias that continues to exist in the skilled trades.

Thank you to our incredible alumni for making this documentary series possible, @sapnation314, @__carmen.l.m__, Todd Pruden and Cheyenne Day Chief.
And to Paul Gantar of Stanley Construction, for sharing as an employer partner of Trade Winds.

I’ve known Jo (& Monique) of the ‘Hip team for about ten years now, having done a number of signs, murals and even a rainbow sidewalk chalk activation during Covid with them that made the news! Fast fwd to present day, it seems my passion and affinity with special events has lead me to working with them on occasion, which explains why you might have seen some of this content on my stories the past few months!

Hip Image is one of most innovative photo entertainment service companies out there. Investing in new fun ways to surprise and delight their guests- of course they can take a traditional photo, but there is so much more that can be done these days. Let’s just say my fridge is FULL of printed photos now.

Some days fill your camera roll. Others fill your cup.

What an honour to be part of the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business Indigenous Women in Leadership Forum. Surrounded by powerful Indigenous women from every corner of the country, we left inspired, energized and deeply grateful.

Through Hip Image and Not Your Average Jo Communications, we had the privilege of supporting this incredible event and bringing some fun to the experience with our Glambot™ and photo booth activations. Watching Indigenous women step in front of the camera, celebrate their accomplishments, lift one another up and shine in their beautiful ribbon skirts, vibrant colours and personal expressions of culture and identity was something truly special. The confidence, pride and joy in the room was unforgettable. Bonus collab with The Lightbox Project in bringing these stunning lightbox creations into the Glambot world!

A huge thank you to the organizers for creating such a meaningful gathering, and to all of the amazing people we met throughout the day. These are the conversations, connections and moments that stay with you long after the event is over.

One of the unexpected highlights was reconnecting with Jeanette from Abilone Shines and having the chance to jump into a Glambot™ moment together. And what a way to kick off the day with James from Prompty bringing the energy and beatboxing skills to get everyone fired up!

Thank you for having us. We were honoured to be there, and we can’t wait for the next one.

Tansi everyone! I was so honoured last night to Emcee the Tradewinds to Success 20yr Anniversary Gala "From the Ground Up" and it was such a beautiful event! Everybody was all dressed up, so many special guests and dignitaries, amazing entertainment, and of course countless alumni. I love this organization that trains our Indigenous people and inspires them to create careers in the trades! 20 yrs in operation and over 3000 students have gone through! Congratulations Tradewinds for a wonderful milestone and great job to Jo Williams of "Not Your Average Jo" event planners for creating a beautiful experience at Fort Edmonton Park for everyone! @tradewindstosuccess @realnotyouraveragejo @fortedmontonpark
