Happy Birthday to this young fine cannibal, drummer bad boy Phil Varone of Saigon Kick!

Buds since 1991, I had hopes of singing at least ONE Saigon Kick show with Phil and now I am up to 4…bring it on, I would do more in a heartbeat!

Love ya bro, see you soon!!!

According to Concert Archives;
Today is the 37th anniversary of the very first Saigon Kick show … 9/1/1989 ‼️ 🤘🏻🥳🤘🏻

Some people may claim “This is age hate” and not like it, but I’d like to reflect on it more fondly.
That being said, “they” may be a year or two older than me …. 🤔🤭

For me, 1988-89 started a trajectory I had never imagined in the years before, nor that it would shockingly continue throughout my entire life.

This epic performance was proceeded by 6+ months of daily rehearsals by the band at a small warehouse in Pompano overlooking the Goodyear Blimp hanger, and a very exciting time for the friends & family that were supporting their passion. 🎶🎸🥁🎤🎶

Despite the bumps, bruises, fights, sushi, and hugs along the way … what an accomplishment, and body of work ‼️

We are the New World Love Clan ‼️🖤

🎶🤘🏻1988 - 2026 🤘🏻🎶

Saigon Kick, approaching 4 decades & still kicking. Opening for LA Guns at the Arcada Theater in Illinois, they served up a solid set of hits from a long and storied career.

Phil Varone returning to the band seems to have reinvigorated the sound, and Stephen Gibbs pivot to bass feels solid and natural. Jason Bieler's vocals hold up incredibly well and the audience stepped up to sing along with the bigger hits. Even I was surprised by how well I remembered so much of their lyrics.

If you get the chance to catch them live, take advantage. Its a musical walk down memory lane that never feels contrived or forced. A good time, with great tunes that takes you back to a much simpler time... before the world was set on fire.

Saigon Kick "Colors"

The most unique album of the time... and still it was chock full of potential hits. Extraordinary. @jasonbieler
