@officialbernadettepeters singing “Children Will Listen” from Into the Woods is a MASTERCLASS in musical theatre. This woman doesn’t just sing Sondheim — she makes every single word feel like it was written straight into your soul.

And as someone who is OBSESSED with Into the Woods? I AM NOT OKAY.

“Careful the things you say, children will listen…”

And now, if you’ll please excuse me, I’m emotionally unavailable for the rest of the day.

“Want something. Want something”

I’m proud to say that I will be Directing COMPANY at Northeastern University NYC in the spring. Joining as an adjunct professor at this prestigious university has been a goal of mine and I am so grateful for this opportunity.

Joining me is truly one of my best friends @atalexagreen as Vocal Supervisor and the fabulous @hosunmoon as Musical Director. I can’t wait to get started!!

Happy 65th anniversary to “West Side Story,” which hit movie theaters on this date in 1961.

I spoke with the legendary Rita Moreno in 2015 and 2017 at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

Swipe the videos to see highlights from our convo, including memories of the Sharks vs. Jets, her other roles in “Singin’ in the Rain” and “The King and I,” and her immigrant journey from Puerto Rico to Manhattan.

Here is the legendary Angela Lansbury in the role that made her Broadway’s Grand Dame - today, on what would have been her 101st Birthday! Happy Heavenly Birthday Angela!

Show: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Song: “Worst Pies In London”

Dame Angela Brigid Lansbury DBE (October 16, 1925 – October 11, 2022) was an Irish-British and American actress and singer. In a career spanning over seventy years, she played various roles across film, stage, and television. Although based for much of her life in the United States, her work attracted international attention. Lansbury gained stardom for playing the leading role in the Broadway musical Mame (1966), winning her first Tony Award and becoming a gay icon. Her many theatrical works include Anyone Can Whistle, Sweeney Todd, Blithe Spirit, Deuces and, of course, Dear World!

Among her numerous accolades were six Tony Awards (including a Lifetime Achievement Award), six Golden Globe Awards, a Laurence Olivier Award, and the Academy Honorary Award, in addition to nominations for three Academy Awards, eighteen Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Grammy Award.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (often referred to simply as Sweeney Todd) is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler. It is based on the 1970 play of the same name by Christopher Bond. The character of Sweeney Todd first appeared in a Victorian penny dreadful titled The String of Pearls (1846-7).

Enjoy!
