and just like that…

We left it better than we found it. 💔

Over the past few chaotic weeks as we’ve geared up to close on the sale of our home, I’ve been chewing on a concept I love.

Years ago, I heard Inky Johnson give a talk about “Leaving it better than you found it.”

More than 8 years ago, when we found 10.5 acres on Davis Rd, it was overgrown, abandoned, and neglected farmland. Trash, brush, and debris.

But we had a vision.

For the next few years, it was chainsaws, trash pickup, and tractor work on the weekends. A relentless barrage of sweat equity, including help from friends, just to get the property even remotely ready to build a house.

Over the following few years, we’d put a 1/4 acre pond in and fully stock it, build the house we’d bring our babies home from the hospital to, pave a 400 ft driveway they’d end up learning to walk, bike, and scooter on, and put in a dream backyard oasis that would allow us to host and bless others for years - decades - to come.

Everything was built with the intent of it being a generational
property for our family. One that we’d grow old in and then pass down to whichever kid we liked more. 😂

The farmland views from the master bedroom deck.
The sunrise over the barn in the nook window.
The perfectly framed pool in the dining room picture window.
None was accidental.

But, seemingly, God had other plans for us.

Before we could even scratch the surface of enjoying what we had spent so many years sacrificing to build, the next chapter of our lives started looking like a very different story.

We relocated to Florida & honestly, never saw it coming. (God did, but that’s a share for another day.)

What had started with just the intent to escape NY’s brutal winters and gray skies quickly evolved after spending time in SRQ/LWR to “why would we leave here? Should we do this?”

It wasn’t an easy decision, but we agreed it was the right one.

It’s going to be very bittersweet to see this property go.

It is our hope, our prayer, and our desire that the family buying it will experience the decades of enjoyment & blessings we had in mind & envisioned when building it & pouring into it for years.

Flag Day photoshoot! 🇺🇸 Today we honor the flag and everything it stands for. 🇺🇸

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Psalm 33:12

The Stars and Stripes represent freedom, sacrifice, and the values that have carried this country forward. On Flag Day, we’re reminded of how grateful we are to live, work, and build in a nation that gives us the freedom to chase our dreams.

From all of us at Basch Solutions, happy Flag Day. 🇺🇸

Happy Birthday, beautiful! 😍

Cannot believe my little Mila Bean is 3 years old! 🎉

This little pickle, beach and peppa pig lover continues to grow on so many levels every single day, and it is the greatest joy of my life to be her father.

Can’t wait to celebrate her all day today… (basically, the same thing we do everyday😂).
