We love protective styles, but protecting our hair should also mean thinking about the products and materials we use to create them. That’s why we’re excited to welcome Ciara Imani May, Founder & CEO of Rebundle, to the Spreading the Beauty Truth Conference: Beyond the Label. Beyond the Shelf. Ciara created Rebundle as the first U.S.-made plant-based braiding hair brand, offering a safer, more sustainable alternative to traditional synthetic extensions that is designed to be gentler on the scalp and the planet. She’ll join our closing panel, What’s Next in Beauty?, where we’ll talk about braiding hair, innovation, ingredient transparency, product development, and what a healthier future for beauty can look like. Because we shouldn’t have to choose between the styles we love and the health of our hair and scalp. Register now and join the conversation virtually November 7th. Before the install comes the prep work. 🤎✨ Every beautiful style starts with a plan. From the consultation to the trim and braid-down, each step plays an important role in creating a look tailored to our client’s needs. For this custom crochet install, her goal was FULL, FULL hair with a natural-looking leave-out and a finish that looks like the hair is growing right from her scalp. Her custom look features 300 grams of 20-inch Burmese human hair crochets in 1B with 27 highlights for added dimension and beautiful fullness. With a sensitive scalp @rebundle.co hair was used for the braid-down to accommodate her needs. Consultation. Trim. Braid-down. Every detail matters. 🤎 #fxbgcrochets #fxbghairstylist #fxbgva #fxbgbraider #spotsyhairstylist

Traveling with Black hair comes with its own set of considerations — whether you’re rocking braids, wigs, weaves, a ponytail, an afro, locs or your natural curls. Because the last thing you need on holiday is a hair emergency. Here are 5 lessons every Black traveler should know about hair care on the go: 1. Choose a travel-friendly style.
Protective styles can make travel easier, but remember that tight braids, ponytails, wigs or extensions can also create tension if worn incorrectly or for too long. 2. Don’t forget your scalp.
Heat, humidity, sweat, salt water and long travel days can leave your scalp feeling dry or irritated. Keep your scalp clean, moisturised and comfortable. 3. Protect your hair from the elements.
Swimming and sun exposure can be tough on your hair. Pack a scarf, bonnet, leave-in conditioner and products that work for your hair type — especially if you’re heading somewhere hot and humid. 4. Be mindful of hair extensions.
Not all extensions are created equal. Some synthetic hair can cause irritation or discomfort, particularly when exposed to heat, sweat or prolonged wear. Research what you’re buying and listen to your scalp. 5. Pack your essentials.
Your travel hair kit might include a satin scarf or bonnet, moisturizer, leave-in conditioner, edge protection, a wide-tooth comb and whatever products your hair actually needs. And remember: protective doesn’t automatically mean maintenance-free. Your hair still deserves care while you’re exploring the world. Whether you’re traveling for a weekend, taking a career break, going on a solo adventure or spending months slow-traveling — your hair care routine can travel with you. Want the deeper dive? As a clinician, I'm taught that I'm the only person here to solve this person's problem. What I've learned is that while I'm trying to diagnose this hair loss in a clinic, there's an engineer and a scientist somewhere in a lab trying to create a pharmaceutical or a cosmeceutical or a robot or an AI tool to solve this problem. There is a lawyer in a courtroom trying to pass consumer rights protection, speaking about the importance of environmental and beauty justice. There is a nurse on Capitol Hill advocating to make sure that insurance will recognize that something like alopecia or CCCA is not just cosmetic, but a medical condition that deserves the same coverage as anything else. There is a professor somewhere trying to make sure that I know how to confidently diagnose skin of color. There is someone on social media talking about the latest beauty brand that just closed or breaking down complex regimens. There is someone in mainstream media talking about the latest research that the scientist and engineer created or discovered. There is a mom in a kitchen trying to create the latest skincare and hair care product. There is a pastor in Stonecrest, Georgia, on a Sunday afternoon, teaching about fibroids and the impact they've had on his congregation and our community broadly. Then there's the Conscious Black Beauty Summit. Saturday, November 7, 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM PT on Zoom, hosted by the California Black Health Network. Opening Panel: "What Clean Actually Means." Early bird tickets are $30. Link in bio. Send this to your sister, your mother, and the stylist who knows your scalp best. 🤎

Meet braidbetter by Rebundle @rebundle.co A plant-based braiding hair innovation created by Ciara Imani May. Inspired by her own experiences with scalp irritation from synthetic braiding hair, Ciara set out to explore a different approach to braiding hair. And we want to bring that conversation to Australia. At Braid n Butter, we believe education is about more than learning how to braid. It’s also about understanding the products we use, the options available to us and the innovations happening around the world. That’s why we’ll be featuring braidbetter at our upcoming workshop. You’ll have the opportunity to: • Watch a 30-minute documentary exploring the creation of braidbetter and the vision behind the brand. • Learn more about the product and explore the possibilities of plant-based braiding hair. • Potentially purchase extensions and discover an alternative for yourself. This is about making space for more options in Australia. We love braiding hair. We love creativity. And we believe people should have the opportunity to discover different products and make informed choices about what they use. So we want to know: Would you like to see more brands like Rebundle available in Australia? Let us know in the comments. We want to hear from you. Braid n Butter, making space for education, innovation and access. #BraidnButter #BraidingHair #TexturedHairEducation #usa #aus
