2025 was a year of transition, beginning to root to a new place, letting things go and create new systems.

This is a collection of inspiration, support systems, a few who have supported me throughout this past year and some experiments.

Something I continue to remind myself: When inspiration is lost, pay attention.

For the December newsletter, 2023 @forgeprojectny Fellow Margeaux Abeyta @margeauxs.art (Taos Pueblo and Diné) shares her experiences in residence and traveling to meet with local tribes to continue her ongoing @reclamation.project, a large-scale geopolitical installation surrounding the issue of land ownership and tribal sovereignty:

During my time at Forge I found myself surrounded by a remarkable surge of Indigenous representation and creativity: Living and making in a space that was occupied with artworks that embodied generational identities, spiritual narratives, and the progression of our place in this world.

Each aspect of time is related to our placement in the contemporary context.

For my Reclamation Project, I collect a small fragment of land, but before I do I need to understand the people and the stories that come with that land….

I was also able to connect with the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council for a reclamation dinner—an evening filled with celebration and pride for the completed return of Monument Mountain.

It was meaningful in so many ways, for them as a community being able to finally come home, and for the greater moment of Indigenous liberation.

At the end of the dinner a few of us walked to the edge of the hill that overlooked the mountains that would soon be rightfully theirs once more.

It's in moments such as these when the air stills across your skin that you’re held perfectly in place—looking upon history, the meaning held in all that land, the place where their ancestors created their own pocket of the world, and where generations were born and where they manifested their own meaning.

The Stockbridge-Munsee Community would finally be able to continue to care for that place the way they always had.

Exquisitely startling, softening, transparent and oh so soothing. Like stepping into liquid. This is Dutch Design Week. What is amazing? Just about everything. So much to share but these are some of the many loftiest and smart works that piqued me. These are the new creators and graduates from the Design Academy Eindhoven that showcased thought provoking beauty and intellect much needed for our starving world. If any of this confuses, triggers or lest scares you…..get out more and break down those expectations I say 🕊

Last week, I had the honor of sharing history, culture and legends of Payahü Nadü with fellow Taos tribal member, Margeaux Abeyta @326indian for her college project.
This involved her learning of our traditional teachings of the land and receiving an offering of soil to be exhibited in a collection of other tribal homelands when complete.
I took Margeaux along with her partner through the valley sharing stories along the way and into Patsiata the O.V Dry Lake, which shared the story of the environmental impact of colonization and capitalism.
So glad to share and get our stories out in the world to raise that awareness.
