A Coach Who Cares ⛸️
Body and Mind Recovery

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

My holy grail as someone who's spent 10 years helping people move and recover better.
I so wish I knew how to use these when I was still skating. The burns you'll feel, the muscles you'll turn on! 🔥 these are not only training, but also recovery tools which makes them EVEN BETTER ✨️🫶🏼 #figureskatingtraining #figureskating #figureskatingcoach

At the root of it all, I think, the point is not even trying to be injury free forever. Nobody can guarantee it.

It's preventing your body from being in a constant state of emotional distress caused by physical pain. Years of holding it in, sucking it up, going without that pain being addressed is what drives your nervous system beyond its limits.

Ignoring the signals of your body, willingly or not, can lead to a pretty miserable life. And most don't even know it until the pain is no longer there.

So let's encourage addressing things as they show up- because they will show up- instead of threatening to take away the sport these athletes love, or fear mongering not "making it" in life or sport because they're not TOUGH enough.

When it comes to sport like figure skating, the recovery and return to sport process must be planned in a way to build strength without creating compensation patterns. Body awareness of the athlete is important, but the body cueing throughout it makes a huge difference.

Plenty of anger and frustration comes up during the training process, and it needs to go somewhere!! And even if it's at your coach- there is always a healthy way of getting it out. So now we're equipped to do it properly 🫡💪

#olympic takeaways!
We hope that everyone, who is either in this sport already, or is planning on joining, considers these points - and chooses professionals who emphasize mental and physical health in the process.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching her enjoy herself on the ice tonight. you could see 0 pressure, 0 expectations, 100% freedom in her performance - and it got her the gold medal. doing her best - not going for gold, but just doing her best got her there. as it did for Mikhail Shaidorov.
you dont have to be her fan (I never really was!) to see how her performance was the best of the night. give credit where credit is due 🙆‍♀️ #IceSkating #olympics #alysaliu #iliamalinin #figureskating
