The Day I Got Fired Changed My Life Forever 🔥

Every single job I ever had — I got fired. Every. Single. One. 💥

The last time it happened I went out to Chapel Street and celebrated on a Friday night 🎉

I wasn't devastated. I was relieved. 😤

Because in that moment I realised something that changed the entire trajectory of my life.

I am unemployable.

Not because I couldn't do the work. Not because I wasn't good enough. But because I was bringing too much value to organisations that would cap my ability to earn. And the moment they limited what I could make — I lost interest every single time 🛑

So I kept getting fired. And fired. And fired.

Until the day I finally made the decision that nobody could ever fire me from again 💡

I became an entrepreneur.

And I want to ask you something right now 👇

Have you hit your breaking point yet?

That moment where you sit there and think — "If I put this same energy, this same time, this same effort into something of MY OWN — imagine what I could build" 🎯

Because here's the truth. You will reach that moment. Maybe you already have.

And when you do — don't run from it. Run towards it 🚀

The best thing that ever happened to me was getting fired one last time. Because it forced me to back myself when nobody else would 💰

When Is the Right Time to Hire? Here's the Rule 👥️

One of the biggest mistakes business owners make — hiring too early and expecting too much too soon 🛑

Here's the simple rule that changes everything 👇

3 months. That's your buffer 💡

Before you hire anyone — make sure you have three months worth of their wages sitting in profit in your bank account. Not revenue. Not what's coming in next month. Profit. In the bank. Now.

Here's why it matters 🎯

If you hire someone with only one month of runway — you're already stressed. You're watching their every move. You're expecting them to perform like a ten year veteran in week two.

They can't 🤯

And what happens? You get frustrated. You take it back. You say "may as well just do it myself"

And you're back to square one — except now you've wasted time, money and energy 🔄

✅ Profit enough for 3 months of their wages
✅ Have it sitting in the bank
✅ THEN go hire
✅ Give them the runway to actually learn and perform

The right hire at the right time will grow your business faster than anything else. The wrong hire at the wrong time will set you back months 💸

Build the buffer. Then build the team. 🧩

An evening of fashion, connection and making a difference. ✨

The St Joseph’s College Fashion Dinner is more than a celebration of style. It is an annual event that brings the community together to raise vital funds for St Joseph’s Vocational Secondary School in Kensekka, Uganda, supporting access to education, skills and future opportunities.

For the 8th consecutive year, Gartland was proud to support the event as a major sponsor and be part of a night that raised over $24,000 for this important cause.

It was a privilege to come together with the St Joseph’s community for an evening of fashion, celebration and purpose, contributing to an initiative that continues to create meaningful impact.

You Don’t Need Money to Make Money — You Need This Instead 🔥

One of the biggest myths holding entrepreneurs back?

“I need money before I can get started.” 🛑

Wrong. You don’t need YOUR money. You need a great idea, the confidence to put yourself out there, and the willingness to ask 💡

OPM — Other People’s Money — is one of the most powerful tools in business and most people never use it because they’re too proud or too scared to ask. 💥

Think about it 👇

The 9-to-5ers in your world — your friends, your family — they’re already investing. Property. Shares. Crypto. They’re putting their money somewhere.

Why not into YOU? Why not into your business? 🎯

When you put yourself out there consistently — people see what you’re building. They hear your vision. And the right ones will say “I want in.”

✅ Share your idea
✅ Show your vision
✅ Ask the people around you to invest
✅ Make them a business partner
✅ Use their capital to grow faster

A lot of people are wealthy on paper but broke in the bank. Don’t let the lack of cash in YOUR account be the reason you don’t back yourself 🤝

Get around the right people. Tell them what you’re building. And ask. 💰

Every minute of every day has the potential to become a memory.

A conversation. A laugh. A familiar face.

A moment we don’t realise is precious until one day, it is. This Dementia Action Week, we want you help to fund life changing research and care that chases more minutes like these. Like many local families, Justin is chasing minutes. Watch his story, and if you can, help us chase more of them.

The Forget Me Not Fund in partnership with the Barwon Health Foundation has an ambitious goal of raising $250,000 over 4 years to support vital dementia research, care and treatment at Barwon Health.

Confidence isn’t something you wake up with.

It’s something you collect evidence for.

BDMs can be incredibly hard on themselves.

You remember the listing you lost.
The call that didn’t go well.
The investor who chose another agency.
The referral partner who never replied.
The month you didn’t hit your target.

But how often do you keep the receipts for everything you DID do?

The appraisal you converted.
The fee you held.
The difficult conversation you handled.
The prospecting call you made even when you didn’t feel like it.
The investor who trusted you.
The sales agent who referred someone to you.
The review that mentioned your name.
The month you kept showing up when things felt slow.

Those are your confidence receipts.

Proof that you can do hard things.
Proof that you are learning.
Proof that you are evolving.

Confidence isn’t pretending you’re amazing every day.

It’s being able to look back at yourself and say I believe in me.

So start keeping your receipts.

Create a note in your phone.
Screenshot the messages.
Save the reviews.
Write down the wins.
Record the moments you’re proud of.

Because on the days your questioning your confidence, you’ll have something stronger than motivation.

You’ll have evidence.
