The Sound of Silence parade is back! πŸ†β€οΈ On June 25 & 27, we will turn downtown Amersfoort into a colorful street theatre filled with dance, foam animals, and percussion. πŸ₯πŸ’ƒ The orangutan takes center stage in a procession of extinct, endangered, and living animal species. 🦧 This way, we show the beautiful and fragile side of nature, and we reflect on our role in all of this, as humans. π‘‡β„Žπ‘’ π‘†π‘œπ‘’π‘›π‘‘ π‘œπ‘“ 𝑆𝑖𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑖𝑠 π‘Ž π‘π‘œπ‘™π‘™π‘Žπ‘π‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘Žπ‘‘π‘–π‘œπ‘› π‘€π‘–π‘‘β„Ž π‘€π‘’π‘ π‘–π‘π‘Ž π‘€π‘’π‘›π‘‘π‘œ πΉπ‘’π‘ π‘‘π‘–π‘£π‘Žπ‘™. πΆβ„Žπ‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘’π‘œπ‘”π‘Ÿπ‘Žπ‘β„Žπ‘¦ 𝑏𝑦 π·π‘’π‘‘π‘Ž π‘ƒπ‘Žπ‘–π‘£π‘Ž, π‘“π‘œπ‘Žπ‘š π‘ π‘π‘’π‘™π‘π‘‘π‘’π‘Ÿπ‘’π‘  𝑏𝑦 π·π‘’π‘‘π‘Ž π‘ƒπ‘Žπ‘–π‘£π‘Ž π‘Žπ‘›π‘‘ π΄π‘›π‘‘π‘Ÿπ‘’ π‘€π‘’π‘™π‘™π‘œ, π‘π‘Ÿπ‘œπ‘‘π‘’π‘π‘‘π‘–π‘œπ‘› 𝑏𝑦 πΎπ‘’π‘ β„Žπ‘–π‘Ž πΈπ‘šπ‘˜π‘’. πŸ“† 25 June (19.30) & 27 June (12.00) πŸ“ Downtown Amersfoort 🎟️ Free admission, just come by! πŸ“· Vlaarflip Go to the link in our profile for more information! @dudapaiva5 @andremelloarte @keshiaemke @musicamundo_nl #Amersfoort #FreeEvent #Theatre #Parade #Biodiversity

On Saturday January 17th we were present at the opening day of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament in Wijk aan Zee in the Netherlands! Tata Steel is the Netherlands’ biggest polluter. They emit many toxic materials in the environment and the chance of getting cancer if you live near the factory is much higher. Also (what a surprise) the CEO’s earn a million a year while the workers faced fear of dismissal. There are many solutions for this factory, and the workers can be employed in the renewable energies! To greenwash themselves, Tata Steel organizes a world famous chess tournament every year. Quite absurd for a company that causes brain cancer! @extinctionrebellionnl and @kappen.met.kolen were present to make a statement on the opening day, and we opened strongly! Stop heavy pollution, stop making people sick, stop exploitation for the wealthy. Stop Tata Steel!!

Earlier today, January 17, 2025, climate activists - Extinction Rebellion NL blocked and dropped 2025 kilograms of coal at the entrances of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands. Tata Steel, sponsor of the tournament - dubbed the Wimbledon of chess tournaments - set a goal of climate neutrality by 2025. The 2025 kilograms of coal was symbolic of Tata’s failure to achieve this goal. According to Extinction Rebellion NL, Tata Steel is the largest emitter in the Netherlands of CO2, nitrogen, lead, mercury, and is the fourth largest polluting steel plant in the EU. Because of the damage these substances cause to the brain, Extinction Rebellion finds it absurd that Tata sponsors a β€œmind sport” chess tournament. XR’s message to Tata Steel, there Is β€œNo Chess On A Dead Planet.” #extinctionrebellion #extinctionrebellionnl #netherlands #tatasteel #chesstournament @contentcuration_benelux

🚨BREAKING NEWS: XRUK ARE CLOSING THE DOOR ON GOVERNMENT INACTION 🚨 Seven years after XRUK first called for urgent climate action, a rapid transition away from fossil fuels, and citizen-led decision-making, none of those demands has been met, and the window to keep global heating below 1.5Β°C has now passed. THEY FAILED US... The government has failed to communicate the scale of the crisis, while approving new oil projects and restricting climate protest. Just weeks ago, the National Emergency Briefing (NEB) warned that the climate and ecological crisis now threatens: β€’ food security β€’ national health β€’ infrastructure stability β€’ UK national security Despite this, the briefing was barely attended by MPs, received minimal media coverage, and has been effectively kept from the public. SO XR ARE SYMBOLICALLY FLOODING THE STREETS WITH DARKNESS... XRUK’s Oil Slickers are gliding in triangular formation through Whitehall, pausing at key entrances to mark a critical turning point: the passing of the 1.5Β°C Paris climate goal. Outreach teams are speaking with passers-by about what must come next; a people-powered shift toward community resilience, climate honesty, and a future built from cooperation rather than extraction. BE BRAVE. BE A REBEL. JOIN XR. #ExtinctionRebellion #ActNow #TellTheTruth
