As it’s @windupwednesday I figured I’d go back to the vault to retrieve this vintage White Star chronograph from the 1930’s. These old Swiss chronographs never disappoint. Keep them well serviced and they will run forever.#swiss #swissmade #swissmadewatch #swisswatch #swisswatches

From economics and the United Nations to launching a genuinely chic Parisian watch brand? Take a bow, Hassan Sefrioui. I met Hassan in the “haute arrondissement” of Paris 🇫🇷 over coffee, and got hands on with @maisonboanton and their growing line up. What struck me straight away was that these watches are design led, proportion obsessed, and unmistakably Parisian in their charm. With roots in watchmaking and jewellery, Hassan could have taken the safe route. Instead, he teamed up with former Cartier watch design studio head William Rigoulet and built Maison Boanton, a brand that pulls from Art Deco elegance, mid century restraint, and proper object design. From the Ellipse to the Emblème, and that brilliant pink limited edition, there is real aesthetic conviction here. Not to mention one of the better cushion cases I’ve tried in a while. My biggest takeaway? This is what happens when someone blends heritage, fashion education, design sensitivity and a little bit of bravery. You do not go from the UN to building a Parisian microbrand unless there is real conviction involved. Full interview now live on Substack, where we get into Hassan’s journey, the case design, the philosophy behind Maison Boanton, and the full Haute to Hot questions.
