The war between the Celestials and the Infernals is not merely long‑lived,it is eternal, woven into the first breaths of creation itself. Long before mortal kingdoms learned to carve borders into the earth, before stars were given names, the two great hosts clashed across the newborn firmament. Their conflict is not driven by simple hatred but by opposing truths, each believing itself the rightful architect of existence.

The Celestials fight with the cold brilliance of starlight, their legions forged from harmony, order, and the promise of a universe shaped by purpose. The Infernals rise in roaring tides of flame and shadow, champions of unbound will, chaos, and the belief that creation must be free to tear itself apart and begin again.

Across ages, their battles have scarred realms both seen and unseen. Entire constellations have been shattered into dust; worlds have been born from the ashes of their clashes. Neither side can claim victory, for neither can truly fall. When a Celestial is struck down, its essence returns to the Astral Loom. When an Infernal is destroyed, its embers gather in the Abyss until it burns anew.

Thus the war endures—an endless storm at the heart of existence, shaping all that was, is, and ever will be.

From the Bear Clan’s Perspective - Strength and Shadow We of the Bear Clan have always guarded the valley forests, where the pines rise like pillars and the earth is rich with roots, berries, and quiet strength. The land is generous to those who honour it, and we have honoured it for generations. But when the winter of the Black Moon fell upon us, even our stores thinned, and the Wolves came prowling down from their ridges. They claimed hunger drove them. We saw only trespass. The Wolves are quick, clever, always shifting like smoke, never content with what they have. They said we hoarded the valley. We said they took without asking. Soon, dawns were broken by the clash of shields and the roar of our warriors. Yet beneath the fury, a deeper wound formed. Brann, son of our war-chief, carried a dangerous softness for Kaela of the Wolves. We saw how he hesitated when her name was spoken, how he questioned whether dominance was the only path through hardship. Brann believed the frontier could be shared, that strength could protect rather than conquer. Many of us feared such thinking would weaken our line. When the final battle gathered on the frost plains, Brann stepped forward not to strike, but to stop the killing. In that moment, we realized the war was no longer about land alone. It was about whether the Bears could imagine a future shaped by something other than force. If you want, we can continue this from Brann’s inner conflict, the Bear council’s fury, or the moment the clans face a choice that could reshape the frontier.

⚔️ Wasteland Warfare: The Battle of Big Black River — Captain Raymond

Thanks @redcompetitor for this most beautiful and epic collab! You brought Raymond to life so well, better than I could have done.

Now for his story:

When the Mercenary brigade reached Cedar Hill on the eve of battle, they came to reinforce Oversmith.
They were led by Captain Raymond of the Red Wings Mercenary Regiment.

At forty-four years of age, Raymond was the oldest officer still alive among all remaining regiments.

He approached Oversmith and asked a single question:

“Who is in command here?”

When he realized it was Oversmith, Raymond frowned.

“You are a Major,” he said.
“A Major cannot command a brigade. The Code must be respected.”

Oversmith stared at him in disbelief.

“We need your help,” he replied.

“We cannot break the Slaver lines alone.”

Raymond shook his head.

“But the Code must be respected.”

He reached into his coat and produced a single star.

It had belonged to General Sydney Garnett, mortally wounded at the Battle of Sharpsburg.

Oversmith stepped back.
“My rank is Major,” he said firmly.
“If you need an employer, I can act as such. But my rank is Major.”

Raymond stepped forward and pinned the star to Oversmith’s collar.

“A man commanding multiple regiments is called a General,” he said.
“So says the Code.”

Later that day, it was Raymond who demanded the honor of leading the first assault on Halcyon Point, for the Red Wings and the Swift Winds.

Both regiments perished in fire and shrapnel.
Their sacrifice shattered the Slavers’ center and decided the battle.

Captain Raymond’s body was never found.

No grave for the Merc!

So says the Code.

What a Barbarian Is

Historically: Ancient civilizations like the Greeks and Romans used “barbarian” to describe people outside their culture—tribes they saw as foreign, wild, or uncivilized. It wasn’t a job; it was a label, often unfairly applied to entire peoples.

Culturally/Mythically:
Over time, the word evolved into an archetype: a fierce warrior from the edges of the known world, shaped by harsh lands, survival, and personal honor rather than laws or empires.

In Fantasy (like D&D or Conan-style fiction):
A barbarian is usually:
Physically powerful
Emotionally intense
Guided by instinct, loyalty, or personal codes
Often from tribal, nomadic, or frontier cultures
Someone who channels rage, resilience, or raw will into combat

The Deeper Archetype: A barbarian represents the untamed—the part of humanity that refuses to be softened by civilization. They’re the storm at the gate, the survivor of impossible landscapes, the one who carries their history in scars rather than scrolls

Zoe, the Silent Guardian

The sun set over the roofs of Serras Refianse, bathing its streets in golden light.

The city was vast, built to hold thousands of people. Yet only a handful of humans walked its streets and alleys — refugees, mages who had fled the wars that had torn the realm apart.

The many factions had fought bitterly to claim the mages for their cause. When persuasion failed, they turned to coercion and persecution. Many had died, refusing to use their power for destruction.

So they built their city between the worlds, beyond the reach of all factions — and the Goddess herself had blessed it.

Upon the rooftops sat a winged figure, watching the empty streets below.

Zoe was an angel, charged by the Goddess to guard Serras Refianse. Her presence shielded the city, veiling it from the dark forces of magic that still lingered across the world.

No one knew of her — and that was for the best.
They would have worshipped her otherwise, and she did not desire that.

She watched as a few mages walked by, a woman among them carrying a child within her. Zoe could see it clearly.

She smiled, knowing she would see many more couples like this in the years to come.
She would watch over them, guard them, and love them from afar.

Never walking among them, but with them.
And that was all she wanted.

In a few centuries, these streets would no longer lie empty, but echo with life — a brief moment in the life of an angel.

And at last, the world would be healed by the magic of those born here.

Hope needs no witnesses.
Even angels measure time in heartbeats.
