Why are people not having kids or delaying having them? Finances may play a role.

According to Statistics Canada, raising a child costs roughly $293,000 from birth to age 17; that's almost $300,000! Globally, similar trends persist.

For many South Asian families, the financial support may be higher. From university tuition and tutoring to helping adult children get established in life, the costs can continue well into adulthood, too.
