A primary bedroom feels finished when every surface is part of the design.

For this whole-home interior design project in Georgetown, Texas, the primary bedroom started as a quiet, neutral space with good proportions but very little connection to the rest of the home.

The transformation came from layering the room as a complete composition, carrying the home’s broader color story into the primary suite while still allowing the space to have a distinct identity of its own.

A soft blue textured wallcovering adds depth to the room. Custom botanical drapery brings in pattern and color. Tailored bedding, layered pillows, framed textile panels and the sculptural gold chandelier add personality, while the wallpapered tray ceiling draws the eye upward and gives the architecture greater presence.

The result is a primary bedroom that feels collected, colorful and highly personal while still being restful.

This is one of the things I love most: the final layer is often what takes a room from beautifully furnished to completely resolved.

Walls. Windows. Lighting. Furnishings. Textiles. Ceiling.

When those elements are designed together, the room feels intentional from every angle.

Some of the most interesting spaces begin with the ones everyone overlooks.

This butler’s pantry was functional, but because it sits directly off the dining room, I saw an opportunity for it to become part of the experience—not simply a pass-through space.

We turned it into a jewel box with saturated color, dramatic wall and ceiling treatments, brass shelving, integrated wine storage, statement hardware and lighting. Every detail was considered to give this small space an identity of its own while connecting it to the dining room beyond.

The result is a dining experience that feels layered, collected and completely personal.

Sometimes the smallest spaces create the biggest opportunities.

Good design starts with understanding why a room doesn’t feel right—not assuming everything needs to be replaced.

Sometimes it’s scale. Sometimes it’s the lack of a focal point. Sometimes the lighting isn’t creating the warmth and dimension a room needs. And sometimes something you already own simply needs to be seen differently.

In one home, 14-foot ceilings soared above furnishings that visually lived almost entirely below 40 inches. The furniture wasn’t the problem. We introduced height, a strong focal point and layers of lighting to connect the room to its architecture and change how it felt to live in.

Elsewhere, existing dining chairs became a defining element through new upholstery. Built-in cabinetry became display by taking something away rather than adding more. Wallcovering, textiles, lighting and color gave familiar furnishings an entirely different context.

And sometimes, the right answer is to take a room somewhere completely unexpected.

That is the part of design I love most: recognizing what has value, understanding what isn’t working, and knowing what to keep, what to reimagine, what to add—and when to go all in.

Kind of chic to create a home no one else could have.

For me, great design has never been solely about creating a beautiful room. It’s about creating a home that couldn’t belong to anyone else.

A home where every decision has intention. Every room contributes to the same story. Every layer reflects the people who live there…not the latest trend.

Because the most memorable homes aren’t the ones that look like everyone else’s.

They’re the ones that could only belong to you.

The best dining rooms don’t all look alike. They reflect the people who gather around the table.

People often ask if I have a signature style. The answer is yes, but it isn’t about repeating the same room.

My work is always layered. Collected. Personal. Designed around the way my clients want to live and, most importantly, how they want to feel in their home.

Some families host large holiday gatherings. Others enjoy intimate dinner parties or quiet evenings with family. Every dining room begins with those conversations, not with a predetermined look.

The architecture, color palette, lighting, furnishings, and materials may change from project to project, but the goal never does: to create a room that feels deeply personal and couldn’t belong to anyone else.

If I’m honest, every project leaves something with me. Sometimes it’s a material, a lighting fixture, a wallpaper, or simply an idea that inspires my own home. That’s one of the things I love most about design. It’s always evolving, and every client becomes part of that journey.

Which one could you picture gathering with family and friends in?

The solution came through layers.

The room had beautiful furnishings, but the architecture needed more to hold the scale of its 14 foot ceilings and resolve the awkward fireplace positioned between the kitchen and living room.

The answer was not to add more furniture. It was to create a stronger visual framework around what was already there.

Custom slatted millwork added vertical rhythm and created a purposeful focal point for the television. Grasscloth brought texture and depth to the dining wall, helping the adjoining space hold its own within the larger open plan. Custom window coverings introduced softness, pattern, and height, while the lighting fixtures and tree carried the eye upward and completed the composition.

Every layer had a role.

Together, they connected the living room, kitchen, and dining area so the entire space feels balanced, warm, and intentional.

A finished room is not simply about what is in it. It is about how every element works together.

My client knew she needed storage.

I knew it could do more than that.

The built-in needed to solve the practical problem, but it also gave us an opportunity to create a focal point, display her collections, and make the office feel more personal.

Custom storage should never feel like an afterthought. When designed well, it becomes part of the architecture of the room, creating both function and a place to tell the homeowner’s story.

Every shelf, drawer, and display space was intentionally planned to support how my client lives while showcasing the pieces that matter most to her.

This custom home office was designed for a client in Georgetown, Texas.

My client told me her new home felt cold and uninviting.

We first met during the Kiwanis Holiday Home Tour in a home I had completely renovated.

Months later, she called because something wasn’t working.

One of the first spaces we focused on was this sitting room.

She envisioned a place for conversation, reading, and reflection. Instead, the room felt disconnected from the way she wanted to live.

The project eventually became known as the Zen Space because she wanted to incorporate several Buddhas that were meaningful to her and create a space that felt peaceful and welcoming.

The room also had a practical challenge.

A large ottoman overwhelmed the space and limited how the room could function. We relocated it to another room and replaced it with a smaller upholstered ottoman in performance fabric that could serve as a footrest or hold a tray for drinks.

Because my client is highly visual, the renderings alone were not enough for her to feel confident about the scale and placement.

Before we committed to the floating console, shelf, and oversized lamp, I mapped the elevations directly on the wall at full scale so she could experience the proportions in the actual room.

It was a simple step, but an important one.

Good design is not just about creating the vision. It is also about helping the client feel confident enough to move forward with it.

We then wrapped the room in a textured fabric wallcovering, added linen window coverings to soften the light, and designed floating storage and display space that allowed the room to function without feeling crowded.

The oversized lamp was intentionally selected so the room would always have a warm glow, even in the evening.

The goal wasn’t to furnish the room.

The goal was to create a space that felt like home.

Sometimes the most important transformation isn’t changing a room. It’s changing how someone feels when they’re in it.

This project began with a conversation at the @kiwanis Holiday Home Tour

My client had lived all over the world during her husband’s career, experiencing different cultures, landscapes, and places along the way. Yet no matter where life took her, she always missed the beauty of Texas and the connection she felt to nature.

She especially loved birds.

That story became the inspiration for this dining room.

A hand painted crane mural creates a sense of movement and wonder, while soft blues, warm coral tones, natural textures, and layered details reflect both her travels and her Texas roots.

The goal was never to create a room that looked like everyone else’s.

The goal was to create a home that felt deeply personal.

Because the most meaningful interiors are not built around trends.

They are built around the people who live in them.

What story does your home tell?
