Challenging Races in Inspiring Places

The @ctwendurance Highlander Heavy Half was a great way to ring in a new AG… this race is in the same area as one of my favorites, @rednewtracing Breakneck marathon in Beacon, but coming from the Cold Spring side so we are exposed to different areas of the trail network. These trails always provide great climbs and amazing views along the Hudson, and I absolutely love the area. I had a goal of sub 4h but missed a turn at the end and had to double back and missed it by a few seconds. Such is life. Special thanks to @tough_lil_peanut and @anthony_coluccio_jr for coming out for a birthday run with custom shirts of my face on Doc Holliday’s body with the caption “I’m in my prime” provided by @uc_hostilegear at the last minute. While I hate getting older each year, I love being able to go out and hit the trails in ways that would have been impossible in my younger years, so maybe the slogan is appropriate. This OCR / Rucking / Trail journey has been a wild ride, and I plan on partaking for as long as I’m physically able! Looking forward to hitting this event again next year! Next up… @green_beret_fitness Operation:Ocali in November, 70 miles / 15K vert with a ruck through the mountains above Malibu… there’s still time to sign up if this sounds like your idea of fun!

A few of my favorites from this past weekend at @gorgesithacahalf. This year was special because @c._.lesh was on the course — casually beating my PR in his first attempt and placing 6th overall. Once again, it was an amazing @rednewtracing event and as usual, it is great being there with @gfmedia ///\ #documentaryphotography #cinematicphotography #runningculture #fineartphotography #ithacany

My 18th half was a vibe ⚡️ ⚡️headphones died at mile 3 and I suddenly had “We’ve got tonight” by Bob Segar in my head for the next hour. Great jam, but not one I’d recommend for race day. Also, my shoe came un-tied (rookie mistake!), but I was greeted at the finish by the cutest cheer squad in the game. ✌🏼🧡🏃🏼‍♀️

We did it! Erin and I completed the Cayuga trail 50k: 31.6 miles, with 6800ft of elevation gain! 😮‍💨 What a weekend. When Erin asked me in the end of February if I wanted to run a 50k this year, I hadn’t run more than 7 miles in the last 6 years… When we found the Cayuga race we knew it was meant to be. 2 moms that love beautiful scenery, and a chance to go on a roadtrip together for a weekend- sold!! and let me tell you Ithaca is GORGES. Lots of steps too. We trained, we tried and we conquered! Overall I feel pretty good except for a pesky Achilles, that’s better after a few minutes of walking. Now the only question, what’s next? @erin.on.earth @rednewtracing Thanks for a great race, red newt!! 💙❤️
