Finally made it to NOLA to spend the weekend with my bestie, @anna.rose_reads and I can STILL taste all the delicious food I had. My soul really needed this trip, and Anna, I can’t thank you enough for being the best tour guide and friend a gal could ask for!

Between all the incredible food, bookstore hopping, a cozy night in your casa, and the concert we’ve been waiting for, this was truly an epic, soul-nourishing weekend. 🥹✨

Of course, we splurged on books per usual, hitting up a ton of local indie bookstores! 📖I’ll be sharing all my bookish finds in a separate post, so stay tuned!

Today’s reason to love our Mid City community - there’s a locally owned bookstore within two miles of my house. James and Tere have created something truly special with @redstickreads. They have a great selection of books and can order things in if they don’t have what you’re looking for in stock. And they really go all-out with story time for the little ones, creating lifelong readers in the process.

Some stories deserve to be celebrated, remembered, and shared. 💛

Today at Red Stick Reads, I came across Crowned: Before the Crown, written by Kalayna Walker and illustrated by Anna Pomelova.

What made this find even more special was the personal connection. I was a sophomore during the year Kalayna was crowned, so seeing this story come full circle through a book was such a special moment!

I love discovering stories that celebrate achievement, representation, and the journeys that happen before the crown. ✨
