Why do we use pogo hops for gymnasts? 🦘

If you’re not testing elastic endurance… you’re missing a key piece of performance.

Pogo (endurance hopping) tests give you a clear picture of:
• Reactive strength ⚡️
• Ankle stiffness 🦶
• Fatigue resistance 🔁

All essential for tumbling, vault, and sticking landings.

💡 Why did I ask Reece to aim for ~160 reps?

Because it separates good from elite.

Hitting 150–160 continuous, high-quality pogos shows:
• Strong tendon capacity (Achilles/foot complex)
• Ability to maintain rhythm under fatigue
• High-level stretch–shortening cycle efficiency

📊 Quick benchmarks:
<80 = build the basics
80–120 = developing
120–160 = strong
160+ = elite level

🚨 Remember: Quality > quantity
If rhythm breaks or heels drop, the test is done.

Simple test. Big insights. Huge carryover to performance.

Great to see you in clinic @reecejeffreys_ and good luck 🤞🏻 for the next champs alongside all my other tumblers! 🇬🇧
