24 HOURS. LET’S SEE WHAT’S LEFT IN THE TANK. 🏃‍♂️

This September in Saskatoon I’m taking on a 24-hour run for men’s mental health, first responders, and suicide prevention month

No shortcuts. No excuses. Just miles, fatigue, and a whole lot of stubbornness.

The goal isn’t to see how easy it can be — it’s to find out how far I can push myself when the body says stop.

24 hours. One mission. Keep moving.

A Little Appreciation Goes a Long Way ❤️

I just wanted to take a moment to share something that has been on my heart.

Just because firefighters and EMS professionals have a job and may have nice equipment or things that others might see as privileges, doesn’t mean they don’t deserve a treat, a kind word, or a simple “thank you.”

We often forget about the incredible people behind these uniforms. Firefighters and EMS workers dedicate their lives to helping others. They run toward emergencies when most of us would be running away. They put themselves in dangerous situations, work long hours, sacrifice time with their families, and sometimes put their own needs aside to make sure someone else gets home safely.

They wake up in the middle of the night to answer calls. They respond when someone is having the worst day of their life. They comfort families, save lives, and stand beside people during moments of fear, uncertainty, and tragedy.

And they do it because they care.

So today, I simply want to say:

THANK YOU. ❤️

Thank you to every firefighter.
Thank you to every EMS worker.
Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the lives you touch, and the risks you take for complete strangers.

You matter. Your work matters. And you deserve to be appreciated—not just on special occasions, but every single day.

If you see a firefighter or EMS worker today, take a moment to thank them. Maybe buy them a coffee, bring them a treat, or simply tell them how much their service means.

A little kindness and appreciation can go a very long way. ❤️🚒🚑. @theeverydaykitchen

What a wonderful evening at our annual Summer Family Fun Event!

It was so great to see so many families enjoying the park, the activities, the food, and time together as a community. From the bouncy castle and bubble station to temporary tattoos, games, popcorn, snacks, and partner activities, the evening was full of smiles from start to finish.

A huge thank you to Sherwood Co-op for helping us provide food and snacks for families and volunteers, and to our wonderful community partners: Regina Fire & Protective Services, the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation, the Saskatchewan Science Centre, and RE/MAX for the bouncy castle!

This event is such a special RODS tradition, and we are already looking forward to next year!

A reminder that our offices will be closed on Monday, August 3, for Saskatchewan Day. Have a great long weekend!

Last week we had our SPA Year-End Ceremony, in which we celebrated our wonderful students and their successes from throughout the year. We couldn’t be more proud of their incredible drill performance, led by Constable April Färden and Constable Frank Kovacs. Thank you both for the ways in which you have consistently shown up for our students, and for being wonderful examples of strength, diligence, and strong leadership for us all.

In addition, we are so proud to have been able to recognize the ways in which our students have served their community this year. From volunteering at out of school events to showing up to support your peers, we are in awe of the young leaders you are becoming. To our wonderful grade 12s, we are so proud of all that you have achieved, and we cannot wait to see where your future takes you! To our grade 9s, 10s, and 11s, we are so excited to watch you continue to learn and grow during the 2026-2027 school year.

Of course, this year wouldn’t have been the same if not for the support of our families, friends, and community. Thank you to everyone for attending our special celebration, and for being an integral part of Scott Police Academy.

This morning we had a very special visitor.

Quinn Strang, from Moncton, New Brunswick, is currently hitchhiking across Canada to raise funds for cancer research and support families affected by childhood cancer.

At just 15 years old, Quinn was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma in his femur. Ewing sarcoma is a rare and aggressive cancer that primarily affects children, adolescents, and young adults. Following treatment, Quinn underwent a complete femur replacement.

Now 20 years old and in remission, Quinn is determined to help ensure others receive the support they need during their own cancer journeys.

Quinn began his trek with his feet in the Atlantic Ocean in St. John’s, Newfoundland, following Terry Fox’s route across the country until reaching Thunder Bay. His goal is to stand in the Pacific Ocean by June 15, 2026.

Along the way, Quinn hopes to raise $100,000. As of this morning, he has already raised $77,773. Half of all donations will support the Terry Fox Foundation, while the other half will go to the IWK Foundation’s Patient Family Support Trust Fund, which helps families manage the financial burdens that often accompany a pediatric cancer diagnosis.

The Brandon Firefighter Paramedics of IAFF Local 803 were proud to make a donation in support of Quinn’s incredible journey.

As Quinn continues west, we’re challenging our fellow first responders to join us in supporting this remarkable young man. Regina Professional Fire Fighters Association IAFF Local 181, you’re up next!

To learn more about Quinn’s journey, follow his story and consider making a donation to help him reach his goal. Every dollar makes a difference.
