This past weekend WSU Speech officially kicked off the season at Sunshine Series part 1 & the Novice Mini Misl workshop…. here are the results 🎉🎉🎉

Wayne State University’s speech team is FIRED UP to begin the 2026-2027 speech season!!!! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Before this busy year begins, we wanted to be sure to formerly introduced our competitors (returning & new!) and our NEW team executive board members 💪💥

After much needed rest and celebration, we want to reflect on our most successful nationals in team history - 4th IN THE NATION, countless outrounds and advancements, and three students finishing in the top ten in pentathalon. Many firsts for Wayne State Speech, including our very own novice, Mason, taking home pentathalon champion! The dedication and hard work of our students has been inspirational, to say the least.

Congratulations to @texas.speech on this year's successes. And thank you to @nfaforensics and @tsuspeechanddebate for hosting such a fantastic tournament! Until next year...💚💛

With so many tears, so much laughter, and more love than words can hold… our seniors just had their final day of forensics.

Each and every one of you gave everything to this team. You didn’t just work hard you inspired us, shaped us, and left a mark that won’t ever fade. The world truly needs more people like you.

This team will never feel quite the same without you, but it will always carry a piece of you in it. We’re already counting down the days until you come back to visit.

Congratulations to our state champions and finalists we are beyond proud of you and so excited to see everything you accomplish next.

We love you always Shila, Daniella, Noor, Dima, Joseph and Chioma! Everyone is so proud of you!

I look better in suits anyway 🤭

NFA 2026! My freshman year of speech is officially over. This season has really pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me a much more confident competitor. To my fellow novices: I’m so grateful I got to grow alongside you 🤗 To my varsity members: thank you for creating a space where I could learn and keep improving 🤩 To my coaches: thank you for teaching me everything I know (and for putting up with me, especially when I’m being stubborn 🤪).

This activity has given me more than awards or rounds ever could. It’s given me a voice, a purpose, a community I’m endlessly grateful for, and more importantly a place to do what I love most: advocate! I’m really proud of how far I’ve come, and even more excited for everything ahead.

wtf?!?! OKAY!!

NFA 2026, I’m so grateful!!!🥰🥰 choosing to return to school & finish my bachelors was challenging enough in itself, however choosing to return to speech was even harder.

but I regret nothing at all, I’ve learned so much and met several wonderful people. so here’s moments from NFA & my fav silly moments from the season!

I loved this activity at 14, and I love it even more at 24. thank you everyone for a great season & a space to share my story. 💖

To the collegiate forensics community: thank you all so much for welcoming me into your world! Winning first place overall as a freshman for the first time in history is surreal, but my love for this activity goes much deeper than my found success. Getting to hear your authentic stories through your beautiful performances, while getting to share my own, has been the highlight of my college experience thus far, and I so look forward to continuing living and loving in this world for another 3 years. I love you all, genuinely.

To wayne state speech: thank you, simply, for being my family. For your constant support and love. I adore and admire each and every one of you, deeply.

And to any judges: hey, thanks for helping me win overall champion ;) live laugh love ya
