Since we started Food Plot Chronicle on our land in New York, we have had lofty goals of producing a 200 inch deer in our lifetime. Some people in the Midwest would probably say “that’s easy” but New York is a little bit of a different beast.

It’s notorious for being on the bottom five states the hunt for quality deer in the country and when we were growing up a solid 2 1/2 year-old buck was a trophy that we celebrated like we had just won the World Series.

Since we started Food Plot Chronicles 8 years ago a lot has changed and we’ve really been able to see how good the genetics are in our area and that our lofty goal may actually be reachable if bucks can reach a certain age. This has not just happened by ourselves. We have a group of neighbors who have joined forces to try and build up the caliber of deer that we can all hunt. And it’s worked!

But that means getting tempted by and passing deer that we would only have dreamed about a handful of years ago. This is our prerogative and our own personal goals. So don’t get me wrong we would be thrilled for somebody to shoot a deer of this caliber and we’d be happy to join in on the celebration.

We’ve also grown a passion for preserving as much as we have trying to chase a mature Whitetail in a state where true mature Whitetail’s are hard to come by. And when you start getting bucks like this at a young age, it is just proof in the pudding that the hard work throughout many off-seasons is absolutely paying off. So whether this buck makes it another year or he makes some hunters dreams come true, the process is working! And that is something we are truly proud of and grateful for.

Regardless, we’re all in this together. Let’s celebrate the God given right to chase these animals. Here’s to being a bowhunter! 🍻🤘

Savor the moment! October and November go by way to fast in the whitetail woods. Hung a bad ass set today and enjoyed every minute of the evening hunt. Soak it in y’all. Here’s to being a bow hunter! 🤘🍻

After a 22 hour day yesterday the results are unfortunate. What an awesome hunt to have a terrible ending. It was just a matter of time we knew one of use would get an opportunity at him. And yesterday was the day. My 3rd set but everything was perfect for him yesterday. At one point he walked right beside my blind and to be honest I was terrified to even breath. Thats how the camera angle was the way it was and the reason I was full draw for close to 3 mins. Not an excuse for my shot but a lesson learned that I need to do better. We owe it to them to be at our best performance when pursuing these beautiful, delicious animals. Unfortunately, it is apart of what we do and these things do happen from time to time. Onna good note, God truly is good and he will provide, but its up to us to not fall short and do our part. The fight continues, God is Good. A big shout out to all the ones that had a hand in helping.

Let’s see what happens tonight. Every time I sit here I get closer and closer to connecting with a deer. Is tonight the night?

I should have just hauled that hog out instead of leaving her there, damn buzzards used this new blind for their landing zone. Time to get creative, I do have some idea that’s for sure#outdoors#archeryhunting#hoghunting#hunting#whitetailhunting

Best day of hunting my family’s property in 14 years!!!

Saw 5 bucks and 15 doe’s today for my first hunts of the year during the first cold front of the season!!

Right at last light had my #1 target buck work right to me at 20 yards and then 3 steps before my shooting lane he turned and walked away. I don’t believe he smelt me or knew I was there so I’ll be back tomorrow morning and evening chasing him because he’s been in the area the last couple days and this time of the year they usually stick to a pretty similar pattern so fingers crossed!!

20 degree drop from this evening and the morning so hopefully he works to his bed after shooting light. First time the temps are dropping in the 30’s and going to be a crisp 34 degrees in southern Indiana.

Today was amazing and blessed to have one more year on my family’s property before they put it on the market and hopefully I’m able to end with and bang!!!
