The goal of Block by Block is to explore and document Columbus neighborhoods from as many unique perspectives as possible.

This summer, we mixed things up. Alongside our open photowalks, I invited a cohort of local photographers to explore Olde Towne East, the Hilltop, and Milo-Grogan together. From June through September, we captured moments of far greater depth and meaning than I could have anticipated.

As we prepare for the opening of Block by Block: Capital Crossroads this Friday at Wild Goose Creative, I want to introduce the artists involved.

First up: I’m Aaron Sheldon (@panchromatic_mechanic). I started Block by Block in 2023 with the wild goal of bringing together photographers who had never met to shoot, print, and install a gallery exhibition in just one week.

Seeing that idea come to life gave me the confidence to grow the program, welcome photographers of all backgrounds, and explore more of our city. This project only exists thanks to the ongoing support of community partners like @wildgoosecreative, @s_barr03 , @rela.art and funding from @gcac_cbus .

Join us for the opening reception this Friday, October 9th, from 6–9 PM at Wild Goose Creative!

It was lovely to get a tour of the @dupleroffice this week and to see all the wonderful works by local artists. Thanks to @rela.art for including my work in this project and for Duplers thoughtful and beautiful design of the space!

I’ve been hoping to collaborate with Kristen and Rela for a long time, but the timing never seemed to align. Looking back, the wait was absolutely worth it. Kristen connected me with Dupler Office, and I’m so honored to have one of my fiber pieces displayed alongside the work of such talented artists.

A huge thank you to Kristen, Elle, and the entire Rela team for curating such a beautiful collection. And thank you to everyone at Dupler Office for investing in local Ohio artists and creatives.

I’m especially grateful that Pentaptych has found its permanent home at Dupler Office. Knowing it will be part of a space where team members and clients can experience it for years to come is incredibly meaningful.

Dupler’s commitment to creating beautiful spaces with a focus on people, process, and place makes this opportunity even more special.

Feeling deeply grateful. 🌿🙌✨

Loved the artists’ tour of @dupleroffice for @rela.art artists, participating in this fabulous remodeling project. So much effort went into curating and installing our artworks in this gorgeous space, I feel very grateful to have my art on display in this thoughtfully curated permanent collection, all of the @dupleroffice feels like a work of art!

This becomes this!

Sometimes I think a work is finished, and then I sit with it for awhile and eventually realize that there is more to be done. It’s about taking chances, possibly ruining a painting for the greater good of experimentation and learning. In this case, I’d say the revision was a great success!

What do you think?

This painting is available for temporary display or purchase through Rela Art Solutions, Columbus, Ohio.

I’m incredibly proud — and honestly humbled — that my work has a permanent place here in Columbus, Ohio. This city shaped me. Every line, every corridor, every color field in these paintings carries pieces of the hard years, the rebuilding years, the moments where life pressed in and the only option was to keep going. The Labyrinth Series was born out of that truth: you don’t quit, you don’t fold, you keep walking the path even when it bends in ways you didn’t expect.

To have these paintings living in public spaces across Columbus — the Hilton, the Hilton Tower, the Convention Center, the Columbus Museum of Art through the Larry DiRosario Collection, and the Linden Library — means more to me than I can say. These aren’t just placements; they’re part of the city’s daily rhythm. People pass them on their way to work, to flights, to meetings, to moments of quiet in the library. That’s the highest honor an artist can ask for.

And there’s a mural here in Columbus too — another piece of my story woven into the architecture of the place that raised me. It stands as a reminder that even when life feels impossible, you keep building, keep creating, keep moving forward. That’s the heartbeat behind all of this.

Seeing my work held in collections beyond Ohio — Detroit, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Northern Kentucky University — is surreal. But Columbus will always be the foundation. This is where the labyrinth began.

If you’re coming to our ribbon cutting on Friday…

Then be sure to be on the lookout for this stunning @annasokolfineart piece!

When I picked this painting for our conference room, I chose it because it felt musical and upbeat. In person, this piece of art has a real aura to it that changes the energy in the room.

We hope you’ll join us on Friday to celebrate our ribbon cutting and tour our new space. Link in bio if you still need to register (it’s free!)

See you there!! 🖤

Special thanks to @rela.art for making it possible for our office to enjoy gorgeous artwork.

Please be sure to read all about it here! I’m very happy to share that my recently commissioned piece "Changeling Field", is now installed at Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center (formerly the Ohioan Hotel) in Lewis Center, Ohio. Ohio-based artists Anna Sokol @annasokolfineart and Karen Rumora @mostlyfemurs were also selected to create dynamic original work for the newly renovated event center. This project was managed and curated by RelaArt @Rela.art a service that helps support local art. The nearly completed center is across from Highbanks Metro Park. If you’re in the area, I’d love to hear what you think!

Proud to share our installation at The Ohioan, Nationwide’s freshly remodeled conference center.

When planning began, Nationwide Realty Investors and MADesign knew local art had to be a key feature. One-of-a-kind art creates identity, drives emotional connection, and builds a true sense of place.

Following the vision of vibrant, textured, oversized art to complement the remodel, Rela Artwork Solutions commissioned three Ohio artists to create ten original artworks for an immersive visual experience throughout the space.
