What’s something you realised you were doing for a partner that was never actually your responsibility?⁣ ⁣ Because somewhere along the way, “being understanding” became an excuse for women to carry relationships they weren't supposed to carry alone. Like his silence/ his inconsistency/ his unwillingness for effort. To give him time. More chances. Again and again and again. ⁣ ⁣ Until one day you realise that there is a difference between being understanding and making excuses for someone.⁣ ⁣ And the fact that I'm writing a long ass paragraph to explain this probably says something too...⁣ ⁣ like why do I even feel the need to explain it this much when you know it's toxic and unhealthy?⁣ ⁣ Is it because this is so normalised? Or I don't want you guys to think I'm being selfish or dramatic. ⁣ ⁣ God, I don't know.⁣ ⁣ Anyways,⁣ ⁣ Where do you think the line is,⁣ ⁣ between loving someone through their struggles and carrying the weight of their struggles because they refuse to carry them ?⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ( emotional labor, mental load, unequal relationships, should you raise a manchild , emotional immaturity, relationship expectations, dating immature men , dating, women and relationships⁣ #RelationshipPoetry #poeticreveries_ #streetwritersofficial #cosmosofwriters Poetry community. ) What’s something you realised you were doing for a partner that was never actually your responsibility?⁣ ⁣ Because somewhere along the way, “being understanding” became an excuse for women to carry relationships they weren't supposed to carry alone. As long as the shards stay in my feet, the blood stays. Like summer, trying to kiss its beloved goodbye. So I'll keep standing on them. Because if I pull them out, it will be like letting him go. Somethings that I wish I could undo because they started to matter more than they should have. Not exactly regrets. But every moment where I turned a blind eye to, and its effects that ultimately culminated in some aches. I wonder what we'd all put on our lists.
