What happens when the game ends, but you’re still figuring out who you are beyond football? 💭

In this clip from our conversation with we talk about identity, life after the game, and the support Black men need through major transitions. Thank you to Tim Massaquoi, Desmond Wynn, Nydair Rouse, and Brandon Shippen for sharing your experiences with our community and to Black Men Heal for cohosting this event with me.

The full conversation just dropped on YouTube. Watch via the link in our bio. 🖤

Join us Tuesday, September 29, at Plant & People for our next conversation on Black male suicide with research specialists and WURD Radio. Registration is also at the link in my bio.

Former Bulldog and Bulldog Athletic Hall of Fame member, Nydair Rouse - Class 123-14, is at the building today to support with our EC fair. Nydair was a 3 sport star here at Gratz followed by a very successful college career where he earned his degree then went on to play in the NFL. Now he’s a business man here in Philadelphia and always thinking about new ways to give back to our community. Appreciate you! Once a Dawg, Always a Dawg! I’m on the wall bc of guys like him who believed in our mission & # goals and were willing to Earn IT. Be Safe & Go Dawgz!

INSIDE THE HEALING ROOM 🖤🏈

What happens when the game ends, the applause stops, and you’re left to answer the question: Who am I beyond the title?

This past Thursday, we gathered at Plant & People in Philadelphia for Inside the Healing Room: Black Men, Identity & Life After the Game—an evening of honest conversation, vulnerability, healing, and community.

Former NFL players Desmond Wynn, Tim Massaquoi, Nydair Rouse, and Brandon Shippen opened up about identity, transition, mental health, and navigating life beyond football. Their stories reminded us that even reaching the highest levels of success doesn’t make you immune to struggle—and that there is strength in doing the work to rediscover who you are beyond what you do.

Special thank you to Nicole Glass, Founder of Affirmations for Black Men, and Tasnim Sulaiman, LPC, Founder & CEO of Black Men Heal, for moderating and creating space for a powerful and necessary conversation.

Most importantly, thank you to every Black man who entered the room ready to listen, connect, ask questions, and heal. 👑

The game may end. The title may change. But your identity, purpose, and healing journey continue.

This is what it looks like when Black men have spaces where they can show up as their full selves. 🖤
