Hi friends,

We were thinking about the word 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 today.

Maybe we don’t need to say much more about it.
No manifesto this time, no clever explanation.
I am, because we are. Easy to forget, harder to practice.

We’ll leave that here for a moment, and let you think about the essence of that word.

For now, let’s praise each other, and the kind humans joining us.

On Sunday, 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 will do whatever you may, or may not expect, from him. 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗞𝗼𝘆𝗼 offers a musical journey between Morocco and West Africa, blending tradition, spirituality, and openness to the world. 𝗟𝗲 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is a performance by Jean Everarts from Ateliers Indigo that brings together compositions, voice, and organic yet frenetic soundscapes towards a meditative trance.

𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻é𝗲 takes over the big indoor hall, Cymbiola, turning the club inside out for a wholesome Sunday gathering. 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗷𝗼 eases you in with a calmer, yet equally dreamy and heartfelt selection from his impressive record collection. 𝗞𝗻𝗲𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗱 & 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘆𝗯𝗶𝗿𝗱 unite the Lowlands by wearing their hearts on their sleeves.

𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼 is the promising project of Gustave Muhozi and Remco Ardui with a forthcoming debut on Toverberg. Brussels-based musician 𝗡𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗮 brings peace into the club, and the other way around, this through music that feels both honest and contemporary.

Finally, for the opening slots on Saturday, we have a surprise: We are bringing 𝗠𝗲𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻 back to life, or something close enough. Consider it a reunion, a moment to gather where it all once began. The impact Mekitburn festival had on many lives in the neighbourhood shouldn’t be underestimated, and Gula Gula also carries parts of that legacy. If Mekitburn was ever part of your story, in whatever way, come join us for this lil reunion opening; the first drink is on us. They will invite 𝗚𝗡𝗨𝗨 and 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘆 𝗥𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗮.

Can’t wait to see you there! ꕥ

x

Gula

@s_h_i_n_d_i_g is an event series focusing on experimental post-internet music. Together with cozyclub, a new format initiated by Marla, they curate the Sunday evening of the 40th Klangraum Festival @kunstraum34

@sch4tzi1 is a multidisciplinary artist and musician crafting sonic landscapes of fragmented sound. Their work moves through raw intimacy and dreamlike obscurity. Blurred voices and atmospheric textures intertwine, revealing what is quietly felt.

Drawing from ever-evolving array of sonic encounters, exchanges and shared explorations, @luxxuryvibelivewire assembles sampled fragments into passages of deliberate instability. His work is shaped by artefacts of internet culture and the more exploratory edges of (club-) music, where constant flux and the notion of the „almost“ define both process and aesthetic.

Field Memo is the musical project of @remco_ardui and @gustavemuho , two audiovisual artists from Belgium who recently released a single on the Toverberg label of Brussels. (1/3) Introducing our artists and their works in the group exhibition Ⓐ Ⓖⓐⓡⓓⓔⓝ ⓞⓕ Ⓓⓤⓢⓣ 🌱 at the Villa Canapé opening weekend:

1-2 🌾Remco Ardui – mos
A love letter to the forest where I was born. I walk through the places which were once fields of grass, which are now scattered with pine trees, while finding a way to process how to go about missing this place/some of my family. Freshly mowed grass, a shaven head, some things take a while to grow back.

Remco Ardui is a multi disciplinary artist based in Brussels. Researching relativity, time perception and spirituality is the base for his intuitive way of creating works. Always using this base as a root for projects ranging from installations to music to film.

3-4 🔴Anne-Laure Maegherman – It’s not about her
She went in search of her motherland, Niger, in order to fill a part of herself. But she bumped into an extremely inaccessible problematic country. She noted that the void she is trying to fill can only be filled by the security of a mother figure, with whom she wants nothing to do.

Anne-Laure is a documentary/hybrid filmmaker working usually with personal subjects. She is currently working on her bachelor film in which will investigate the boundaries of documentary forms.

5-6 🌷Yüksel Çilingir – Sultan’s Crown
Oğuz, a felt making artist, visits his childhood home, and follows the traces of his memories. He collects material that has meaning to him and uses them to create an artwork. Will this transformation be a new beginning for him?

Yüksel began his career in educational technology. His master's degree at LUCA School of Arts Brussels marked the beginning of a second life for him. He now does work in the audiovisual sector and volunteer activities for/with people with immigrant background in Belgium. He is an active volunteer at Cinemaximiliaan.

We are happy to announce our collaboration with Canapé for their opening weekend as the exhibition 🏞 A Garden of Dust which is part of the nomadic series How to Be Many Over and Over Again

🌿Ⓐ Ⓖⓐⓡⓓⓔⓝ ⓞⓕ Ⓓⓤⓢⓣ is a collection of small things: of the tremble of a sleeping body just before daybreak, of the breeze passing by soon to be forgotten, of an inhale in the moment right before the needle pricks the finger. A garden that is left to its own devices is a savage place of unruly nature tangled with human affections. It manifests potential as a tangible force.
