#PandemicStory #LongPostAlert 🚨

Long Post Alert. If you stay to the end there is a prize, lol.

Today, I’m going through some old photos and reflecting on living in NYC during the height of the pandemic in 2020, and so many of the obstacles I overcame. I can’t believe it’s been 4 years since that time.
.
I got down to nothing, got furloughed from my part-time job, and ran out of money. I was so depressed.
.
My friend let me stay with him until I could find a job. I distinctly remember having a panic attack and feeling hopeless. To occupy all the time from not working, I tried to start a new business venture, and it failed. On top of that, one of my close childhood friends passed away from mental health issues.
.
In the midst of so much grief, I learned SO MUCH about myself. I also learned I had developed a poverty mindset where I couldn’t believe for more. In order to remedy that, I feel like God wanted me to give my last to Him. I have seen the power of that decision and gift change the course of my life year after year since.
.
I gave my last few hundred dollars to the church I was attending to prove that I would no longer be afraid of money, and that God would take care of me and fight my battles.
.
In 2021 my work in social justice grew and I got involved in tech and government. In 2022, I got my own apartment in NY. In 2023, I bought my first house (and a car that I always wanted.) God opened so many doors for me in business, friendship, and identity.
.
The pandemic wasn’t all bad. I learned about problem-solving, entrepreneurship, therapy…the list goes on and on. There were some beautiful moments too.
.
SO—I’m developing a new interview series called “Grit & Glory” on the @remedynetwork platform to share inspirational stories of the wins, losses, and lessons of life.
.
My first guest is @kay_nash , a teacher who is going viral for giving away 100 pairs of Air Force ones to her students in Nashville, TN. Click the link in my bio to RSVP for our IG live interview on 8/26!
.
How did you overcome during the pandemic? What did you learn about yourself? Who else should I interview? Drop your ideas below! 👇🏽

Shoutout to @khacumberbatch for only speaking facts . It’s time for us to collectively make an effort to get involved with justice reform, for the sake of every generation that follows us . Pay attention to the individuals that have dedicated their lives to taking actions in reform. Like Khalil says “ we’re not losing if we choose to fight!” #justicereform #massincarceration #awareness #advocate #makinimakini #prisonwife #justice
