Raced @cranmoremountainrace for the second time this past weekend. Safe to say the trail running in the Northeast is in a very good spot. 3rd place and a little (but big check) payday for the effort.

Now the question is what to do with the rest of the year…taking any and all ideas (and bribes).

Remi offered me $100 to stop at the aid station immediately upon starting the race…next time.

Got my butt kicked at the @wmramountainrun vertical race, but then rallied to place 2nd at the classic race the day after!

But hey, if you aren’t getting your butt kicked every now and then, are you really putting yourself out there?

Tbh I absolutely got got in the vertical this past weekend. I’ve struggled with vertical races in the past but wanted to take another swing at the event here and try doubling between doing the vertical on Saturday and then the classic. So I decided to give this race a shot! But the thing about getting out of your comfort zone is sometimes things don’t end up going well. While I knew this was risk going into this event it was still a huge hit to the ego to struggle this much in a race. I’m not proud to admit it but I kinda spiraled for a bit post race.

But as much as that sucked, I think it was good for me. It was a humbling experience but this reminded me that I am not invincible, the importance of being careful with pacing at the start of races, and the importance of not taking things so seriously.

I took these lessons and tried my best to carry them through to Sunday for the classic race. Still, I didn’t expect much from this race given how the previous day went. So I just tried to set myself up to enjoy the day as much as possible. I lined myself up further back at the start, made an effort to take in and enjoy my surroundings (fall leaves at Mont Saint Anne were amazing), and made sure to smile, wave, and cheer on others once the race got started. Almost by accident, this set me up to have one of the best races of my life! Ended up placing 2nd in the Classic Mountain race at the WMRA World Cup finals!

So thankful for this experience, both the butt kicking and the dream race the day after! And thankful to get to represent @usatf and @usmtrunningteam ! Special thanks and shout out to all the staff and usatf mut team members out there this weekend. It was awesome getting to know everyone on the team and to race with all of you! USA’s mountian running team is looking so strong right now!
