❝Are you sure it’s OK to send a connection request on LinkedIn to someone I don’t know yet?❞
.
This was the exactly question a client asked me this morning, during our session about the strategic use of #LinkedIn.
.
.
And I have to say this was not the first time I heard that question. I asked that myself years ago!
.

◎ A lot of us fell uncomfortable, afraid of rejection, we are not sure if “it will look professional” and we find it weird just send a connection request to a stranger.
.
.
✶ What can we do about it?
.
.
1 ▹ Change your mindset – in the “online” world, people #network and get to know each other by sending messages, commenting posts and articles and sharing information. But someone needs to take the initiative and start the process!
.
.
2 ▹ If you add value to the person, she will be more likely to accept your request.
.
.
3 ▹ Make it about the OTHER person, not only about it – keep in mind that she will ask herself “What is in it for me?” before accepting or not your connection.
.
.
4 ▹ Don’t try to sell anything straight away. Build up a relationship first. Be human.
.
.
✶ Would you add something to this list?
.
.
✶ How do you fell about sending #connection requests on LinkedIn?

JOBS. : Ran by my former rehearsal studio last night and had to pause and reflect on how much has changed in a year. But this isn’t a heady, fluffy post. Rehearsal studios aren’t brimming with artists now. Theaters are closed. And who knows when audiences will return. So if you’re on the hunt for a “for now” job, need some resume boosters, or want to discover your own business qualifications, take a peek at my new blog post. Feel free to share, message me, or comment with your own stories. We’re in this together, and if my 12-month career turnaround can help anyone, then the link in my bio has served its purpose. .

5 things I learned when a recruiter wrote me on LinkedIn to schedule an interview:
.
Yesterday, I received a message from a Recruiter on LinkedIn interested in scheduling an interview with me for a Recruiter position.
.
This is what I learned about it:
.
1️⃣ Even when you are not actively looking for a job, Recruiters and Headhunters can find you on LinkedIn. The right key words and your activity in the platform are essential.
.
2️⃣ Do not underestimate a "10 minutes call to talk" invitation from a Recruiter. Pre screening calls by phone are a common practice. If you don't pass this initial interview you won't go to the next steps, so take it seriously and give your best.
.
3️⃣ Have clarity about your professional goals. If you are looking for a job and flexible to consider different positions, you might want to hear more about the offer. Know what you want will help you to decide how to use your time, and if you accept an interview invitation or not.
.
4️⃣ Sometimes Recruiters won't listen to you. When I politely declined to attend the interview, I said I could suggest professionals that might be interested. She replied "we will keep in contact", nothing else.
.
5️⃣ Companies are still hiring and doing interviews during COVID-19 times. Get ready for it!
.
.
🔸️Anything else?

REMEMBER THIS? When coffee came in ceramic cups, outdoor seats were packed together like sardines, and sitting & sipping an espresso in a local cafe was an everyday thing? (Ok, maybe every other day...) IT’S COMING BACK! The cafes in Germany are slowly starting to open their doors again, and personally, my happily masked face can’t wait for a cup that’s not disposable and a seat that’s not my desk chair. If this was an exercise in perspective, I SEE YOU UNIVERSE! And I so appreciate these small things more than ever. See y’all at the cafe? I’m the one in the bright blue face mask. .

Online is the "new normal".
.
When this client first contacted me, asking for details about my services, he was hesitating about the "all the work will be done online".
.
I took my time to explain him that I have been working remotely for more than 6 years, and that I am used to deal with clients from all over the world.
.
We reviewed all the future steps of the process, clarified deadlines, the different channels we would use to communicate and set expectations.
.
🔸️ I felt very happy when I received this recommendation from him, after the work was finished!
.
Online is the "new normal", and we, professionals that haven been working remotely, from home, as digital nomads or location independent entrepreneurs have to keep sharing this "new" way of working.
.
Furthermore, we need to keep delivering great results.
.
.
Have you ever hesitated to use online or remote services❓
