On Saturday, @crossword_lyric had a set for Regents Roots Festival hosted @olddiorama . For the past nearly two years, we have been hosting writing workshops in their space, and what a privilege it was to platform @ren.exe4 @officialsamuei and @creating_be on stage, doing what they do best🎶💫

☆ hey hi hello! I'm so insanely proud to say I'm a @rionceartsclub summer resident ☆

☆ From our first phone call, I felt inspired, realigned, and maybe a wee bit scared of how good things were about to get ☆

☆ here's a wee recap of my first day in the studio! THANK YOU so much to the gals for being so bloody, brilliant, and so lovely to work with! And to my lush mentor for helping me understand something I've not been able to fully wrap my head around for a year ☆

I've been struggling to put my experience with Crossword Creatives into words (well a succinct Instagram post!) and it's now been over a month since we had our showcase 😳

I can't tell you how much I got out of this programme:

⭐ meeting a group of creatives for 3+ hours every week to create, learn and encourage one another
⭐ experimenting with our poetry alongside music and just generally - write a poem and don't overthink it - get behind the camera!
⭐ having the opportunity to collaborate with other poets - a first for me and I loved working with @ren.exe4
⭐ being on the radio @voices_radio and also recording our poems in a recording studio (us in the room in this photo!) 🤯 I felt like a celebrity!
⭐ learning about the history of spoken word at @britishlibrary
⭐ working together to put together a showcase and it was the most wonderful night!
⭐ walking away with a supportive group of friends - who are all out there doing amazing things and inspiring me all the time

I'm so grateful to @milli.rose for this incredible initiative, for all her time and for creating & leading such a beautiful space. The whole Crossword team are wonderful - I have so much love for @creating.be and her energy and kindness, @iamkotodama and his positivity and patience on the guitar and @ifilmus for being there for us all and filming us 🥰

They're planning for more cohorts so make sure to follow @crossword_lyric and apply when the initiative comes up again - you won't regret it! Xx

[I'm copying Ren in using this photo as I think it captures the energy of our group so well 😅 missing the lovely @joshuakdm and @officialsamuei who also deserve a mention xx]
