A couple of weeks ago, our Beyond the Pages (BTP) Book Club had the pleasure of zooming with the fabulous @kimberlymccreight as she roadtripped across the country with her daughter. She was so kind to make time for us out on the road! We loved discussing her newest novel, SOMEONE ELSE’S HUSBAND, one of the novels we were fortunate to circulate as a #BTPtravelingARC. This book is a thrilling ride you won’t want to miss! Thank you Kimberly for joining us! We can’t wait to see what’s next for you and are so excited to cheer you on!

Last week, Kimberly McCreight joined us to discuss her latest book, Someone Else’s Husband. Not only did she make the time to join us, she joined from a last minute road trip! This book is psychological suspense and the twists made this one unputdownable. I enjoyed hearing about Kimberly’s writing process and how her own experience climbing Mount Kilimanjaro contributed to the book. Thank you Kimberly for taking the time to join us.

Last week, Tara Roy joined us to discuss her latest book, Sisters of a Halved Heart. This book follows estranged half sisters brought back together when their father has health issues. I really enjoyed the discussion, especially regarding unlikable characters. Thank you Tara for taking the time to join us.

✨BTP zoom✨

Earlier this month, Ilona Bannister joined BTP to discuss her book, Five. (Yes, I’m very late with these Zoom posts🫣). Five is a book that has such a crazy premise with being told in the beginning that of these five people, one would die very soon. Yet, even knowing all of that, I could not put it down as I learned more about the people - who all had likable and unlikable qualities.

I loved hearing more about what went into the book and joined this one from the road, even carrying my book through a DSW as my daughter shopped for shoes. Thank you Ilona for taking the time to join us.

Sunday afternoon, our Beyond the Pages (BTP) Book Club had the pleasure of zooming with the lovely @ilona.bannister author of FIVE. What a THRILLING novel following the lives of FIVE characters, where the novel description tells you from the beginning that four will live, and one will die. I’m so grateful that BTP member @meggss365 shared with us all about this book! Ilona so kindly joined us live from her home in the United Kingdom! This book is a thrilling ride you won’t want to miss! Thank you Ilona for joining us! We can’t wait see what’s next for you and are so excited to cheer you on!

BTP had a rare Sunday Zoom just over a week ago where Sophie Chen Keller joined us to discuss Little Wonder, which was also an Oprah book club pick for June. We had to Zoom on a Sunday since Sophie was joining us from Germany. I loved hearing more about this beautiful book. Thank you Sophie for taking time to join us!

✨BTP zoom✨

When you realize a month or so later that you never shared about a BTP Zoom that happened on your birthday. Big oopsie, y’all, big oopsie. Jeffrey Blount joined BTP to discuss Mr. Jimmy From Around the Way, which was released back in 2024. This books follows a man who makes a terrible mistake who then ends up in Ham, Mississippi and ends up being a redemption story in the way he helped the people in Ham. It’s a heartwarming book and everyone should read this one.

Jeffrey is so good interesting to listen to - I joined late (haha theme of the post) and I enjoyed this so much. Thank you Jeffrey for taking time to join us and I apologize for taking so long to post about it!

Book 125 of 2026 and Zoom Event! 📒
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

LITTLE WONDER by Sophie Chen Keller is a phenomenal book about motherhood and the love a parent has to push their children to their fullest potential.

When River is separated from his mother in a busy train station in Beijing the story and a parent’s nightmare begins. Told in flashbacks we learn of Song’s story, LITTLE WONDER spans the initial days, weeks and eventual years of their fight to get back to one another. Grab your tissues 🥹

“Where you are, I am”.

Thank you to @imsophieckeller for sharing a copy of the traveling ARC with Beyond the Pages and most importantly for joining us this afternoon (morning for us West Coasters) to discuss your gorgeous book about motherhood and never giving up on your dreams or yourself! The book cover is perfect - love that the power lines demonstrated the importance of music in this book - and a reminder that sometimes you need to dance through the best moments in life 💛🎶

✨Author Event✨

Sunday was an extra special day because not only was there the lovely conversation with Mary Kay Andrews and Colleen Oakley, but a BTP member from Texas was in town. I love meeting my book club friends in person and I was very lucky to enjoy a lunch with Chana with the bonus of Lisa and her mom joining us later on. And then there were more book friends at the actual event!

The event itself was so fun as there were a lot of great questions from Colleen to MKA and the amazing question about asking which character changed the most from first draft to final version has an answer - Lady Esme. If you’re read Road Trip you understand. If you haven’t, #buyherbookdammit. This event also got me super excited for Colleen’s next book, In Concert, comes out February 9, 2027 and covers many years and many historical music moments.

It was so great to be at a book event and one I drove myself to! Seeing all my sweet friends made it so much better!

✨BTP zoom✨

Last week, our zoom with Marybeth Mayhew Whalen didn’t go as planned due to illness. Handle with Care was an excellent book and a unique take on a hostage standoff. Hoping Marybeth is feeling much better!

We had a great just us moment until later in the hour when Annabel Monaghan popped in. We got to hear more of her tour stories and how she found the reader named Dolly, who inspired the name for Dolly All the Time. Thank you Annabel for taking some more time for us!
