TEDxBerlin TALKS - Recap

This Monday at Kraftwerk Berlin, TEDxBerlin TALKS opened up fashion as a space for ideas, expression, and dialogue.

Beyond aesthetics, the conversations revealed how fashion can be deeply outspoken - a form of art that tells stories, challenges norms, and gives voice to messages many are afraid to say out loud. From identity and culture to technology and sustainability, the discussion explored how creativity carries meaning and how what we wear can shape the world we live in.

The panelists included: Serhat Işık, Benjamin Alexander Huseby, Dozie Kanu, René Célestin, Zainab Jama, Kandis Williams, Edward Buchanan, Mumi Haiati and Air Afrique members Ahmadou-Bamba Thiam and Jeremy Konko

TEDxBerlin & INTERVENTION V

The first TEDxBerlin Talks dedicated to fashion and design brought together panelists René Célestin of OBO, Mumi Haiati of Reference Studios, Dozie Kanu, Zainab Jama, Kandis Williams, Serhat Işık and Benjamin Alexander Huseby of GmbH, Edward Buchanan, and Air Afrique members Ahmadou-Bamba Thiam and Jeremy Konko.

Reference Studios, led by Mumi Haiati, powered the first TEDxBerlin dedicated to fashion and design and planned INTERVENTION V as part of the official Berlin Fashion Week calendar. INTERVENTION V is supported by the Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises.

TEDxBerlin TALKS: Exploring the Ideas Behind Fashion

Yesterday, TEDxBerlin TALKS brought together leading thinkers, designers, and cultural innovators to explore what fashion really says — beyond trends, products, or promotion.

Across thought-provoking conversations and interviews, speakers including Serhat Işık (@serhatisik__ ), Benjamin Alexander Huseby (@benjaminhuseby ), Dozie Kanu (@dozie.kanu ), René Célestin (@renecel ), Zainab Jama (@zzaynss ), Kandis Williams (@kandis_williams ), Edward Buchanan (@edward_l_buchanan ), Air Afrique (@airafrique_ ) shared insights into how fashion functions as a system of ideas: shaping identity and influencing global culture. Guests learned how creative decisions are made, how meaning is produced, and how the fashion ecosystem is evolving.

Hosted at Kraftwerk Berlin, the event provided a space for curiosity, reflection, and connection — inviting everyone to see fashion not just as an industry, but as an idea that shapes how we express who we are.
