My foster Buzz’s first adventure 💕 He’s already spoken for!! He goes home to his new family after his neuter next week. When I first got Buzz, he was scared to be touched or have a leash put on. Walks were scary, and he was terrified of other dogs. Now he LOVES dogs, asks for attention and pets, and gets excited for walks and adventures! I’m so proud of my little buddy and how far he’s come. And I’m so happy he found a family who already loves him so much! 💕 #fosterdog #fostermom #fosteringsaveslives

Yes! HES ADORABLE!!!! And looking for a great home! Buzz came to us fearful of EVERYTHING and has made soooo much progress! He now loves people, but prefers gentle massages and petting. He loves dogs once he gets a few minutes to meet them and realize they aren’t going to hurt or rush him. He loves toys, chew toys and of course a good zoomie around the yard a couple times a day 🤣 He’s still learning about the outside world, so walks are definitely not his favorite yet 😂 It takes him about 3 hours to go one block 🤣🤣🤣 He needs someone who will let him go slow, stop and take everything in because he has literally NEVER seen any of this before! Buzz was born in a yard with his siblings and never left. So cars, people, sidewalks, noises, walks… it’s ALL new to him. I’m looking for a quieter home with a yard and at least one nice dog who actually enjoys interacting and playing with him. His dog friends really help him feel safe and continue building confidence. ❤️ He MUST have: • A yard • A friendly dog who will enjoy interacting with him • Someone willing to go slow and continue helping him learn that the outside world is safe He’s 2 years old, low energy, healthy and a stocky, strong 9 pounds of scruff 😂❤️ He LOVES toys of basically any kind and is such a sweet little dude. I’ve been working with this girl for a few months now and we had A LOT to work through!! She was reactive and aggressive toward pretty much everything… people, dogs, bikes, joggers, kids… She was also super fearful of new places, even a nature walk… My first goal was just getting her to trust me. That took 4–6 weeks and was pretty stressful 😅🫣 Once we got through that, we started working on seeing dogs at a distance first, then people—gradually closing that gap over time. Dogs were especially hard for her. If one looked at her, she could redirect onto the handler, and we weren’t muzzle trained yet. Then we worked on bikes and building skills so she could handle closer exposures. Then came muzzle training… which was a BIG deal because she doesn’t like wearing anything—not even a harness—and will sulk/shut down. Progress was very slow, but I could see small improvements on every outing! Her prey drive is STRONG and she LOVES hunting little animals in bushes and holes, so we used that + food to change how she felt about all her triggers (and the muzzle). So instead of fighting her prey drive, we used it to our advantage!! Now she enjoys her adventures—going to new places and seeing the things that used to set her off… because it means good stuff is happening!! She’s exploring confidently, walking right by people, joggers and bike, handling dogs at normal distances, stopping to smell the flowers, sticking her head in bushes, and just LOVING IT. She’s doing SO much better overall and I’m so proud of her. This one was not easy, but it’s been so worth it. Looking back at where we started to where we are now is honestly shocking—in the best way. I’m so happy for her that she’s enjoying life and getting to experience so many new things. Thank you so much to all the prop people who have helped Magik on her journey!! A huge thank you to @trainingbylindsey who did all of this with Magik as well!! We tag teamed and took her out multiple times a week on exposure training sessions. Also huge thanks to @coastviewvet!! Her gear has been a huge help too! People are scared of us so they give us a wider birth and don’t talk to her👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

It may look like nothing but it’s EVERYTHING! 💛 I often work with very fearful, shut down, abused and neglected dogs. So we celebrate the things other people might overlook: accepting pets, feeling comfortable in their environment, learning to play, making a friend, digging a hole, sniffing & exploring… 🥹 Rigatoni was one of them… and I’m very proud of her! Watching fearful dogs blossom melts my heart. 🌼

This is magic 💛💚💜🩵🩷 Thank you to everyone who was part of this little girl’s journey. She made it! 🤗 She had the slowest progress of any dog I have ever known, but one thing was consistent… She showed an almost undetectable, TINY bit of progress almost every day 🤣 so we kept going. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 For all my shut-down, fearful, feral, hoarding, abused, and neglected pups — just find that glimmer of improvement and keep going. This level of fear is DIFFERENT. Don’t give up. Be creative. Go slow. And reach out to someone who has experience with this kind of fear. Thank you to all the rescues, fosters, temp fosters, vets, transporters, donations and supporters for our under dogs 🩷

No place we’d rather be than with the @dogsoftaphq 💚 We thought we’d show off some thankful faces from our favorite November moments! In order of appearance: 🧡Elmer Fudd came to HQ and immediately got put in a baby sling (a rite of passage for any little dog that comes through here, honestly). He later had a first class carriage ride around town on a sleepover with Lainie 🧡Bilbo Baggins enjoyed some midday yard time and pulled off yet another cute outfit 🧡Eileen gave a vicious smooch attack to Uncle Pablo 🧡Gizmo was spoiled during HQ movie night 🧡Rey did his usual roll around in the ivy on his walk with Auntie Jayme 🧡Bubba and his old bones soaked up the sun during a weekend walk 🧡Benny got a pup cup post-training with Auntie Brighid 🧡Felix said “ball is life ALWAYS” 🧡Paloma enjoyed snacks with her nightly yard time 🧡Mac went on a field trip with Uncle Mike 🧡Atreyu cute splooting. No further commentary needed 🧡Hippo confirmed he is still very much in love with his favorite mahi toy 🧡Velvet helped pick up trash on the side of the road during her neighborhood walk 🧡Kabru showed off his shake skills and showed us he's a big fan of the hose 🧡Reese was living for his walkies and also turned 2! 🧡Mr. Norris discovered his tail 🧡Huckleberry made new Leash Squad friends 🧡Addie had a Stuffed Pups meal to celebrate getting the hindrance of her paralyzed back legs removed!! 🧡Lobo is finally getting to be a dog after surviving ESLR 2.0
