POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Postcards from our salon.

On a Tuesday night in SoHo, we asked three people from different worlds what life has taught them.

Geetika Agrawal of @vawaa_ took us inside the crafts that can only be passed from hand to hand. Lisa Ginzburg of Changa Institute talked about psychedelic care rooted in Indigenous wisdom. Shauna Alexander shared what 20 years in music taught her about where music and culture collide.

We’re doing it again. Join us Wednesday, November 4, for Wisdom Part II, with three new speakers from three different worlds. Link in bio.

In the latest episode of @tfopod, @reneerodan, founder of women’s publication @galconomist, and I talk about the less glamorous side of building something new: putting your ideas out into the world and dealing with the criticism that comes with it.

As someone who’s received negative comments about both myself and my podcast guests, I’ve noticed something interesting: a lot of what gets labelled as “criticism” online isn’t really criticism at all. Especially when it comes from anonymous accounts with no interest in having an actual conversation. Sometimes, it’s just hate.

I’m all for disagreement. I think we need more of it, actually - the kind that challenges our perspectives, invites healthy debate and makes us think a little harder about why we believe what we believe. Don’t agree with someone’s POV? Tell us why. Let’s talk about it. We don’t all have to think the same way to have a meaningful conversation.

But dropping into someone’s comments just to say you hate them, or the person they’ve invited onto their podcast? What are we really adding to the conversation?

I’d love to see us bring a little more curiosity, nuance and humanity back to the internet. We can disagree without being cruel. 🤍

Pitched The Galconomist to a room of creatives at @wsanyc. Then went home to pack envelopes.

1. Spoke with @lenapiahamm for the @neuehaus.io Fall Forum, PechaKucha style. Ran over. Four issues don’t fit in six minutes.
2. Dressed up with @the.protocole for a night at @silenceplease.
3. Spotted outside @iconicmagazines.
4. Packed your orders by hand.
5. Counting down to Tuesday. Geetika Agrawal of @vawaa_ is one of three speakers at our Wisdom Salon at @lightningsociety. Link in bio to join us on October 13th in NYC.

This week on Table for One, I’m joined by @reneerodan, founder and editor of @galconomist - a print magazine and community for women exploring everything from love, sex and relationships to ambition, identity and what it means to be a modern woman.

Renee and I first met in London for one of her Galconomist events, and I knew immediately that we had about a thousand things to talk about.

We get into what it means to start over in your 30s - moving cities, leaving behind the life you thought you were supposed to have, building something from scratch and learning to trust your own timeline. Renee shares the story behind Galconomist, including the loneliness that inspired it, the power of asking your friends for help, and why being a beginner might actually be one of the most exciting places to be.

We also get very honest about dating in your 30s, the pressure to find “the one,” heartbreak, marriage, the dating market, Sex and the City, and why sometimes you have to stop gripping so tightly onto the life you thought you wanted.

Plus: the beauty of being bad at something before you get good at it, dealing with criticism on the internet, taking back control of your own narrative, full bushes, and Renee’s upcoming Galconomist issue all about play and fun.

Out now wherever you get your podcasts!!!! 🍸✨🍸✨🍸✨

Danger is seventy three, wearing blue Crocs and nothing else, and he has something to say about your phone.

I spent six days at Burning Man asking the oldest people I could find what happened to fun. Not one of them said what I expected.

Meet the Elders of Burning Man is on our Substack now, link in bio. From Issue 004, The Play Issue, out now in print.

MODERN MUSE, NYC.

A look back at our first Protocole event, bringing our community together for a night somewhere between peptides, health, and play.

Thank you to everyone who came, stayed late, shared a hot take, danced, and made our first one so special.

More to come. ❤️‍🔥

Modern Muse 🤍

Our first Protocole event and honestly such a special night.

A lot of what we talk about with Protocole is this idea of a life well lived. Taking care of yourself, but ultimately so you can have more energy for your life, your work, your friends, going out, having fun, all of it.

Very grateful for this little community we’re building @the.protocole 🤍

Thank you to our amazing co-hosts @yanamnyc @brookekorine @reneerodan

Our community builders @onda.community @katrinkau @its_sarahdonner

And our amazing team, and of course my co-founder @cindy.laurenn 🤍
