Fashionably late 2024 recap post… just like I am in real life 😅

I love you @abigail.sorensen ❤️

After 7 incredible years, my Colorado Springs era has come to an end.

When I moved to the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in 2017, I never expected to be here this long. But in a town where I thought I’d struggle to fit in, the OPTC gave me a community. And it’s one of the best I’ve ever been a part of.

Within these gates, I grew into myself. I got physically stronger and mentally tougher. I learned how to be a leader, a teammate, and an advocate.

I suffered alongside my squad mates through heinous workouts and the emotional tribulations that come with being an elite athlete.

I befriended athletes from other sports and engaged in the most ridiculous shenanigans that made me feel like a kid at summer camp, and reminded me to never take sport too seriously.

I spent hours at “the resident table” sometimes sitting in the cafeteria through breakfast and into lunch while a revolving door of athletes and staff came through to laugh, cry, and connect.

I was amazed by how much every employee seemed to care about me. From the security officers who buzzed me in each morning to the kitchen staff who often sent me home with treats, the small daily interactions we shared were some of my favorite parts of each day.

It’s hard to imagine that I’ll ever find friendships as strong as the ones I’ve made here. We lived through so much together, and the bonds we formed in the trenches of this impossibly high pressure environment are bonds I’ll cherish forever.

As good as it was, I’m ready for a change. And I’m so excited to be moving to Denver with the love of my life, and figuring out what the next chapter will look like.

*this is not a retirement post! I’m taking things year by year but still intend to train and race triathlon.

**sorry @dannyoshea213 and @reinbolt_usa - I ran out of tags!

I promised myself this morning I would fight to the end! Well that looked a lot different than I could have ever imagined my Olympics to be.

A crash, then a flat tire later in the bike and then two more crashes trying to get to the wheel pit to change my wheel 😔

There were points in the race I wasn’t sure I could finish, but it’s the Olympics and I was determined to make it across the finish line. Grateful to walk away ok from the crashes and to have my friends and family here supporting me. ♥️
