Detailed Look: Vans Old Skool x Zhang Quan “Year of the Snake”
@otwbyvans @vans @zmuyou

The little details on this pair are absolutely amazing. @zmuyou really put a lot of work into these and definitely did not lake any creativity. One thing I love about these are the textures throughout the upper. I’m very happy that these are my first pair of Vans in my collection.

What do you guys think about this pair? Are you a fan? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. Thanks everyone!

Featured: Vans Old Skool x Zhang Quan “Year of the Snake”
@otwbyvans @vans @zmuyou

Vans has teamed up with Chinese artist Zhang Quan to design a collection which was inspired by the retro 8-bit video game “Snake,” which requires players to use the snake to capture dots on the screen until it becomes too long to handle. This collection is also in celebration of the Lunar New Year which is why it’s called the Year of the Snake collection. Zhang Quan is also the founder of Chinese streetwear label @meltingsadness .

The classic Old Skool features a suede upper and leather wrapping, highlighted by the Year of the Snake graphic designed by Zhang Quan and imprinted under the the fold-over tongue which I think is a really great detail. You have a pearly-texture-decorated Sidestripe that pays homage to the “Snake” game. There is a polka dot pattern which can be seen on the insoles as well as on the outsole. You have metal eyelets arranged in a circular design which emphasizes the snake-inspired aesthetic. They come stocked with flat cream laces.

Overall, I think these are super unique and creative. They are done in a neutral color palette but all of the textures and little details will definitely make them stand out and eye-catching. What do you guys think about this pair? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. Thank you @zmuyou and congrats on this amazing project brother!
