Welp, cats out the bag!!!

THIS!….This is truly an honor and I am still speechless about it. I found out about a week ago. Our thesis film “NO!” is nominated for Best Student Film at the 17th annual 2026 BronzeLens Film Festival! God is so good!

I say “our” because there is absolutely no way that this film is where it is today without my amazing and talented cast and crew! I want to say thank you to everyone who was a part of this project from the participants on set to those who donated and most importantly, those who prayed for us to have a smooth shoot and a successful project. Those prayers were heard and answered!

Thank you @bronzelens for even giving my film the opportunity to screen at this prestigious festival! I don’t take this opportunity lightly! I’m excited to see all the wonderful films made by my fellow filmmakers as this event is underway this weekend and next.

No matter the outcome, this in itself is truly an honor. Thank you! 🙏🏾

For nearly six decades, The California Advocate has been more than a newspaper. We’ve been a voice, a witness, and a reflection of the community we serve.

From documenting our history to telling the stories unfolding today, our mission remains the same: to inform, uplift, advocate, and make sure the voices of our community are heard.

The way we tell those stories may continue to evolve, but our commitment to the Central Valley has never changed.
We’re still here. Still telling our stories. Still advocating. And we’re just getting started.

The California Advocate — Our Voice. Our Stories. Our Legacy.

Exactly ONE YEAR AGO today, we rolled cameras on Day 1 of principal photography for NO! 🎬🍿

It started with a vision, an incredible crew, firm belief, and an unforgettable energy. One year later, we are incredibly honored to be an Honorable Mention recipient at the California Women’s Film Festival and heading to Atlanta as an Official Selection for the @bronzelens BronzeLens Film Festival this month!

Huge thank you to the phenomenal cast and crew who poured their hearts into this project. Atlanta, we’ll see you on August 23rd! ✈️🍑

Here’s a look at our time behind the scenes on set. We hope you’ll all enjoy!
