Second time to visit the @reoldsmuseum

No, not a typewriter, but definitely has the mechanical engineering and metal parts!

The museum preserves Lansing’s automotive heritage and its lasting impact on the mid-Michigan community and the American automotive industry.

It is dedicated to Ransom Eli Olds, a Lansing inventor, entrepreneur, financier, and one of Lansing’s most notable automotive leaders. Olds created the principle of the assembly line in the automobile industry and founded two local automobile companies: Olds Motor Works (1897) and REO Motor Car Company (1904).

A ton of history here, fun facts and cars!

Thanks to @reoldsmuseum for lending us this iconic 1984 Cutlass Supreme in immaculate condition.

If you were around in the 80s, you saw this car everywhere—it was the ride of affordable luxury for so many middle class families back then, with its plush velveteen seats (did you cram 6 people in one ever?) and V8. This was the last year for the Hurst/Olds collaboration.

What do you remember about this car?

Every story has a beginning. Sometimes, it has four wheels. 🏁

Before the horsepower, before the supercars, before the racetracks and everything we associate with the automotive world today—there was this.

The 1906 REO Model B Runabout. A little reminder that an entire industry was once just an idea, built by people who believed there was something more waiting down the road.

Standing here looking at it, I couldn’t help but think about how far the automobile has come—and how much farther there still is to go. It’s easy to get caught up in the finished product and forget that every journey starts somewhere.

This is one of those beginnings. And I’m still chasing that same feeling. 🏁🔧

Lansing, you were a delight! But I'm so glad I got to witness the union of my dear friend, Ashley and my new brother, Joe! The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was lit! And I'm grateful to have been reunited with friends from near and far! This was a much needed weekend full of love, rest, and celebration. Until next time!

📖 Lansing's story is more than automobiles. It is also the story of the workers who built them.

This week, the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum officially opened Assembled in Lansing: Building a Workforce. Building a Union, a new permanent exhibit that shines a light on Lansing's labor history and the ongoing story of workers' rights.

🎉This is an exhibit that will continue to grow as community members share their own stories and experiences, ensuring that this history remains alive for future generations.
