We were taught to watch our backs. Not build them up. At the Black Male Therapist Retreat 2026 instead of talking behind each otherโ€™s backs, we wrote affirmations and posted them there. Then someone else read it out loud, so every brother got to hear what his brothers really see in him. As Black male therapists, we pour so much into everyone elseโ€ฆour clients, our communities, our families. Rarely into ourselves. Thereโ€™s something powerful about putting Black male therapists in the same space, not to compete, but to connect. Too often weโ€™re carrying the weight of everyone elseโ€™s healing while neglecting our own. This retreat was created to remind us that the healers deserve healing too. It was a space for honest conversations, brotherhood, rest, growth, and being understood without having to explain ourselves. My hope is that what we started here continues to grow into a community where Black male therapists feel seen, supported, and poured into. If youโ€™re a Black male therapist whoโ€™s looking for more than networking, if youโ€™re looking for genuine connection and a space to be cared for, weโ€™d love to have you join us next year. This retreat is exactly what I need to not only rest and restore but to learn. All 13 of us do this work and have different footholds in varying industries which has expanded my mind to what my practice can now be! Itโ€™s time to go build more. Out of office for the moment ๐Ÿ›ซ This is a post of gratitude: DEPTH . CLARITY . BROTHERHOOD Iโ€™m not a man that comes from much . Single mother household, broken family , not much to our name , and everyday just hoping my decisions donโ€™t land me in jail or dead . Nothing has been perfect but things have been ordered . The idea of me being a therapist was the furthest thing from my mind and honestly an area of my life that I have minimized for so long . Thinking I wasnโ€™t worthy of the title and not suited to be the one to heal those around me . This weekend I went to the first ever Black Male Therapist Retreat and this is an experience that I can honestly changed my life . This is my first time experience genuine community around people that didnโ€™t just understand me but made it clear I was wanted in the space . This is also the first time I can truly say I feel filled by those around me and for that Iโ€™m grateful To the man who reads this I want you to know that your past is never a true determination of where you go. The success ahead of you is cemented the moment you decide to be someone that is bigger than you can ever imagine. I would never thought Iโ€™d have an opportunity like this and it truly all because I decided to stay the course . I am no different than you bro , your goals and desires are there for the taking as soon as you realize you are more than who you even think you are , good and bad . Real strength looks like this. This Juneteenth weekend, I had the opportunity to lead a restorative yoga and breathwork session at the Menโ€™s Healing Circle hosted by @theblack_therapist in partnership with @cmnantashawilliams and @lakimd . One of my goals this year has been to get more involved in menโ€™s community spaces and share the practices that have helped me become the man I am today. For me, that practice is yoga. Yoga has helped me navigate difficult seasons, build self-awareness, and become stronger physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It taught me that strength isnโ€™t just about what you can lift. Itโ€™s also about creating space to slow down, breathe, and face yourself. Shout out to every brother who showed up, shared space, and gave movement and breathwork a chance. The energy in the room was powerful.
