Future Craft: Flamish company @reroglass and glass artist @frederikrombach push the boundries on mouthblown recycled glass, and exploring new methods for a more sustainable practice. This week, you can see what happens when blowing glass in @aifunghi_design hemp-mycelium composite @kazerne_designlab. Myceliumcomposite replaces wooden molds and gives a unique expression to the blown glass. #ddw2026 #kazerneeindhoven #recycledglass #myceliumcomposite #ecodesign

@reroglass is the Antwerp-based practice of glass artist, designer and cultural entrepreneur @frederikrombach, who combines architectural engineering with traditional glassmaking to transform waste materials into collectible lighting and sculpture. At @dutchdesignweek at @kazerne_designlab Rombach is collaborating with British glass artist and engineer @gregoryallissstudioglass, whose practice explores the creative potential of complex and contaminated waste glass.
Together they will present ‘Rebroadcast’, a collection made from obsolete Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) television screens. Combining glassblowing, casting and cold-working techniques, the project transforms this challenging electronic waste into sculptural lighting, including wall piece and pendants. The work also asks what happens to the value of a waste material when the resource itself becomes finite. #glass #gallery #postconsumerism . Photo @ruudbalk

Benieuwd? https://www.gabian.be/kaarsen2/

Our third August exhibition, The Other Glass: The Art of Recycled Glass, is now officially open- and we couldn’t be prouder. We have international artists featured from all around the world.

Curator Tone Ørvik and our brilliant volunteer team have poured their energy into bringing this powerful exhibition to life, capturing these moments at the opening. We’re also deeply grateful for the continued support of Dudley Mayor Pete Lowe, who has chosen Stourbridge Glass Museum as one of his seven charities during this crucial year for our community.

In the wake of the Stourbridge Wildfires, our commitment to climate education and recycled art feels more important than ever. This exhibition stands as a reminder of resilience, creativity, and the green future we’re working toward.

Open now- come and explore.

The African Glass Network (MAGN) expresses deep appreciation to Frederik Rombach, the Belgium Glass maker with South African roots, for his contributions to the Glass Safari 2026. During the weeks of activities at Ngwenya Glass in Eswatini and at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Frederik played a pivotal role in supporting the students in the prototype making of glass lighting and creating glass art with and for local and visiting glass artists. At TUT Frederik worked along with one of the student groups experimenting and teaching different techniques that can be used working with up-cycled glass.

As mentioned by Frederik, it was especially rewarding seeing the results of the work during the Glass Safari 2026 at the exhibition at the Association of Arts and how the work will be used during the Design Week in September. Frederik runs RERO Glass, a public access studio that works exclusively with recycled glass. RERO Glass explores themes of eco-friendly consumption, collaborating with universities, international artists and designers. The Moya African Glass Network is deeply thankful for Frederik’s engagement with the students, his creativity and for his humble and friendly personality.

What is the Glass Safari? It is an initiative led by the Moya African Glass Network (MAGN). It is run in collaboration with local African glass artists and makers, the Tshwane University of Technology glass studio, Ngwenya Glass, Smelt Glass Studio and visiting international glass artists. The Glass Safari aims to promote international collaboration between glass artists and creatives, thereby contributing to the growth of creative communities on the African continent.

In July I had the incredible opportunity to be a part of @moya.african.glass Glass Safari. Working at @ngwenyaglass glass with students and at @tutglassstudio I focussed primarily on developing works using only bottles. The glass safari, the students and all my colleagues were inspiring. Ngwenya was inspiring, pretty much everything and everybody. What an honour to have been a part of this. I figured out a new project, working with @savannacider bottles, that I will taking further next year, hopefully returning to South Africa to continue working with recycle glass and introducing it into the South African arts and design community. Meeting the @studioananta_ sisters and starting up collaborations is one the first steps. There is a hunger and enthuisiasm - African style - that resonates with me. I want more.
Thanks to @mr_devereux, @caitlingreenberg, @tutglassstudio @smeltglass_studio , @ngwenyaglass , @tyronety221 , @oratile_theartist1 , @moya.african.glass @creativity_booster (photo and film credit), and my roomies who became sort of family; @lsfraserglass , @kathusk , @edmond_byrne_glass, and of course @robsternartglass, @david_reade_glass_art , @timshawglass and last but not least @lotharbottcher
Looking forward to the next steps @studioananta_

Introducing Bloom! The collection explores how two materials with opposing properties, such as glass and steel, can come together in a harmony. Rather than resisting one another, when brought together with care, they find a delicate state of balance. 🫧
