9pm-3am 21+
$10 before 10:30pm /$20 After

Originally hailing from Chicago, Juana is a veteran selector who has been making dance floors move since 2001. Her sound is deeply rooted in the raw, underground spirit of her hometown, with an undying penchant for Midwest techno. She has a background blending rare grooves, disco, techno, and deep house, which quickly made her a central figure in Washington, DC. She was a founding member of the influential Sequence collective, helping to establish a darker, more industrial techno aesthetic in the capital.

Natalie Murillo (aka La Spacer) has focused on experiencing the evolution of Chicago’s house music and Detroit’s techno, and the underground global dance craze phenomenon influenced by these two sister cities in different parts of the world since the late 80s. Based on La Spacers’ posteriori knowledge she produces other-worldly hypnotic rhythms with house & techno music as their foundation.

Kicking off the summer with a double booking this weekend in Chicago and then I’ll be doing some traveling so come and say hi before I leave for a little while!

👽 1) This Friday, May 29th | I’ll be opening up a post-Movement weekend conjuring for @research.n.development @podlasieclub featuring the layered, inventive and inspirational @mozhyjooon coming from San Francisco! And very much looking forward to the multifaceted @rabshaa_ Podlasie debut! I’m so grateful to have been able to curate this magical night for R&D! My set will be on the more experimental side post Podlasie’s Boards of Canada celebration. See you at 9pm!

😵‍💫 2) And then on Saturday, May 30th | I am enthused to be back at @smokeandmirrorschicago @aurispresents as I have the honor of being on support for the prolific and accomplished Manchester-born @setaoc_mass with the dynamic @djflood__ ! The experience will start at 10pm so come early and obviously stay late. Thank you for the trust Yianni!

THIS FRIDAY 05/29- RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT: MOZHGAN, RABSHA, SHANTI

9pm-2am 21+
$15 before 11/$20 after

Research & Development Presents Mozhgan (San Francisco) with Rabsha and Shanti for a mind-bending night of converging and diverging soundscapes.

Mozhgan was born in Iran but found her artistic sanctuary in California. In 2011 Mozhgan co-created “We Are Monsters” with Jason Greer. This visionary party experience became an escape from the mundane.
Mozhgan is known for her captivating dark sound infused with percussive psychedelia. She has toured worldwide for the past 10 years and played at venues like Panorama Bar and De School.

Rabsha is a dj and live act project by Hussain Alawami. Based in Chicago, he draws from his experiences on dance floors around the Midwest to guide his approach to playing music. Rabsha blends psychedelic techno and bass music into atmospheric soundscapes traversing the edge between dystopian wastelands and ethereal dreamworlds.

Shanti has made textured waves in Chicago’s techno scene with her curation of dark, sinister, and ethereal soundscapes. Music has always been a means of coping with the otherness and hybridity Shanti experienced throughout her life. Shanti’s sets weave a story of the simultaneous despair and yearning that are intertwined with the human condition and illustrate an intentional trajectory through combining and cultivating surreal, atmospheric, and haunting sounds.

R&D is enthused to bring you a post-movement ritual for
inquiring minds and devious dancers!
