This took me way longer than I expected. Shooting it was a delight. There were models I didn’t get the chance to capture in this beautiful space. The onsite choreography would have been crazier than this. Shoutout to all of these professional amazing models who endured the process. Fantastic work. Bigger shoutout to @naeemahlafond for giving me the opportunity as an artist to create.

FINALLY got through processing such a huge milestone.
@naeemahlafond the trailblazer you are! You are thee representation of what it looks like to pave your own way in an institution that clings to its sometimes archaic and mystic traditions. And on top of that is changing and elevations our representation of what textured hair looks like in media. Mommas is doing the work. I hope your pillow is always cool on both sides!

Let’s also talk about @olaplex giving me the opportunity I was secretly waiting for, my debut platform appearance! We kinda go together now, I’m not sure if they know it. But we are very much in the honeymoon phase of a well aligned partnership, at lease we are in my head. 😂 I also gagged seeing the curl campaign I did at such a huge scale!

And @curlfactor for sharing the stage with a newbie! You lead with so much grace. Thank you for making the stage feel like a safe place for me.

Wooooohhh! That’s a lot. And I haven’t even told yall about my award for rising visionary!!!! Visionary is such a scary word and I hope to continue to build a career that shows a discerning vision that reflects art that is timeless.

Also, also, me and @chuckielovehair ahhhhhhh!!!! I got me a Chuckie Amos custom and I can’t wait to frame it!

All in all, @textureonset feels like community, and to be seen and celebrated by community is the biggest accomplishment for me.

Lastly, but never the least, so much gratitude for @marvtarv and @cut_by_a_don for all the support!!!

To be recognized and considered in these spaces is LOVE!! Being able to witness Black Hair Industry Professionals receive their flowers in rooms where our work is not always centered — but is often imitated — was powerful.

One of my favorite parts of the event was watching live hair artistry happen in real time, being backstage as the artists worked, and witnessing a Black woman photographer receive a Living Legen Award. A beautiful full-circle moment. CONGRATS @itayshaphoto 🫶🏾

Also… seeing all the curls in the room definitely made me miss my curly fro IYKYK 🥹✨

That’s a wrap! 🎬

I had the privilege of assisting @curlfactor at this year’s @textureonset and had the time of my life. My mind is open and inspiration is at an all time high after being around so many talented, creative, and successful artists! Being backstage was such beautiful chaos and I can’t wait to experience more of it!!!

You heard it here first, I’m manifesting more on-set opportunities for myself and the future is bright🔮✨
