There’s no universal “right time” to buy a home.

Realistically, two people can be looking at the exact same market and be in completely different positions to buy.

One might be paying $3,000 in rent, have stable income and enough saved for their upfront costs. Another might be living at home rent-free, building their savings and planning a career change next year.

Same market. Completely different decision.

That’s why your homebuying timeline shouldn’t be based entirely on headlines, what your friends are doing, or trying to perfectly time the market.

The better question is: does buying make sense for your life right now?

There’s something really powerful about being in a room full of women who are all building, learning, growing, and figuring things out in real time.

The Support Her Conference with @sfa.whiwh was such a meaningful reminder that success doesn’t come from having everything perfectly figured out.

It comes from continuing to show up, staying open to growth, and being willing to learn through every stage of the journey.

And honestly… the day perfectly embodied that because my heel literally broke right before my presentation 😭

No backup shoes, no time to stress. Just had to laugh, adapt, and keep it pushing. Which honestly felt symbolic of entrepreneurship itself.

So grateful to have been invited into a space that encourages ambition, connection, and community among young Black women. Events like this matter so much, and I left feeling inspired all over again 🤍

This was a hard truth to accept, but no... I didn’t start with a business.

I was self-employed. I had created a job for myself.

And that’s where a lot of people stop.

What pushed me to start building a business was realizing I didn’t want everything to depend on me being present 24/7.

I wanted something that could run, grow, and support others, even when I wasn’t directly involved in every single step.

That meant building systems. Bringing in the right people. Investing in tools and support before it always felt “comfortable.”

And yes, self-employment is a great starting point. But building a business is a different level of intention.

So, if you’re serious about it, it’s not just about what you can do on your own. It’s about what you can build beyond yourself.
