POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Ever wonder why some people literally FALL ASLEEP while getting tattooed? 😴🖤

It sounds crazy…

But there’s actually some interesting science behind it.

The tattoo machine creates a steady, repetitive sensation against the skin.

That predictable rhythm gives your nervous system something consistent to focus on.

Add in the fact that you’re sitting or lying still, breathing, and not having to do anything except be there…

…and your body can start to settle down.

Tattooing also involves repeated stimulation of the skin, which can activate the body’s natural pain-modulating systems, including the release of endorphins.

So for some people, the combination of:

rhythm + stillness + focused sensation + endorphins

can create a surprisingly relaxing experience. 😌

And then there’s the environment…

The quiet room.
The hum of the machine.
The repetitive movement.
The deep breathing.
The feeling of finally being able to stop and disconnect from everything else.

For some people…

their nervous system basically says:

“Yep. We’re safe. Time for a nap.” 😂😴

And suddenly…

You came in for a tattoo…

and accidentally booked a therapy session. 🖤

Of course, everyone responds differently.

Some people relax completely.

Others are sitting there watching every single needle movement like 👀😂

But when someone falls asleep on my table?

I know they’re comfortable enough to let go for a little while.

Art.
Connection.
Stillness.
And apparently… nap time. 🖤

🎨 PMU MIXOLOGIST™

Because sometimes we’re not just artists… we’re basically color chemists with a tattoo machine. 😂

Mixing the exact right pigment, undertone, saturation and warmth for YOUR skin isn’t a guessing game.

Whether it’s scar camouflage, brows, lips or permanent makeup — your color is unique, and the formula matters.

A little too warm? Nope.
Too cool? Absolutely not.
Too light? We adjust.
Too dark? We rethink.
Perfect match? CHEF’S KISS. 👩‍🍳💋

We don’t just “pick a color.”

We MIX. We MATCH. We CORRECT. We CREATE.

So yes… you can call us artists.

But honestly?

We’re PMU MIXOLOGISTS. 🍸🎨

Serious about your skin.
Serious about your color.
And just a little obsessed with getting it right. ❤️#restorativepermanentmakeup #tattooartist #lajollacalifornia #scarcamouflage #pmu

Medical tattooing is a restorative practice focused on improving skin appearance and function after medical conditions, surgeries, or injuries that have compromised the tissue.

It includes nipple–areola tattooing, scar camouflage, hair simulation for medical hair loss, and corrective procedures that support both physical and psychological well-being.

While medical and cosmetic tattooing may share similar tools, their goals are not the same. Medical tattooing addresses medical and functional needs, while cosmetic tattooing focuses on aesthetic enhancement and convenience.

Understanding this distinction is essential — for clients, artists, and the future of the profession.
