Très religieux 🪽🐻‍❄️✨ I am aware that retouching photos can be perceived as inauthentic, but let’s not forget that photography is an art and a craft in itself. Photo translates to “light,” and graphy to “graphics,” which together means “to paint or draw with light.” In professional photoshoots, large, almost telescopic cameras and bright lighting are used—equipment that captures every tiny detail of your body, as it’s meant to produce a resolution powerful enough to be high-quality for a billboard. In such cases, the art of retouching goes hand in hand with creating a professional photograph and making it a complete art form. Even our grandparents had people who retouched their wedding photographs — not to mention the film industry, with all its tricks like cotton socks on lenses, and so on. As artists, we strive to make a creation as good as possible. Haven’t you ever had a good photo and thought to yourself, “But those red eyes, or that one strand of hair, kind of ruins it”? My painting teacher always told me: if there is something in your artwork that draws attention away from the whole piece, it disrupts the balance. That’s why I decided to put my trust in a very talented retouching artist, Diana, to make my picture stand out more, infused with a dose of artistic vision mixed with photography. I briefly explained my vision of making the picture “more heavenly,” because the photograph itself had meaning to me, and I wanted to elevate it with a touch of the colorful artistic flair we see in paintings. Photographers and retouchers are the modern painters of the 21st century. All I can say is that I am extremely satisfied with the work, which exceeded my expectations.
