Through beautiful old family photographs she explores memories of her childhood in 70’s Sweden mixed with her Gambian heritage & then somehow bottles that spirit up by hand in her Shoreditch studio 💫
I was a fan before I’d even met her OR put my nose to one of her vegan bottles…

We took these Photos on an impressively rainy May Day at the Yaa Centre in West London
I could swear the Sun was shining & drums started to beat when Allyson got her Costume on & started dancing
The Centre was quiet with just the two of us there
Rain hammering on the windows
Infectious Warmth & Energy beyond

A most incredible Life Story which she shares in her Book ‘Tell me something I don’t know!’ - get a Copy

Arrived in the UK 1969 from Trinidad
38 years dedicated to the NHS as a Nurse & Midwife
MBE for her contribution to the Carnival Arts
Oh & a Cover Girl at 79 years young

Thank You All incredible Makers & Shakers for welcoming me into Your wonderful Spaces ✨

Almost annoyed how blown away I was being reminded of the true craftsmanship going on in our City every Day

Knife Makers, Globemakers, Ceramist, Master Gilder, oldest Hat Shop in the World, Wood Turner, Savile Row Tailors, Carnival Costume Designer, Shoe Makers, Embroidery, Whip Maker to mention a few
