Dear Members of the Harlem Week Planning Committee, @harlemweek @greaterharlemchamberofcommerce I respectfully submit this formal nomination for Sidney Omen Brown Jr., the Grammy Award–winning producer, visionary creative, and proud Harlem native, to be recognized as an honoree for Harlem Week 2026. His life, artistry, and legacy embody the cultural brilliance, innovation, and global impact that Harlem Week has championed for more than fifty years. Born and raised in Harlem, Sidney Omen Brown Jr. cultivated his artistic foundation early, attending LaGuardia High School as an art major, where his creativity, discipline, and collaborative spirit first began to flourish. These formative years shaped the multidimensional artist he would become — one whose work seamlessly blended visual imagination, musical depth, and emotional resonance. Omen emerged as one of the most influential producers of his generation, shaping the sound of contemporary hip-hop and R&B with a signature style rooted in authenticity and soul. His collaborations with artists such as J. Cole, Drake, Beyoncé, Lil Wayne, and many others helped define a musical era that continues to inspire creators worldwide. His Grammy Award stands as a testament not only to his mastery of craft but to the creative power of the Harlem community that raised him. In September 2025, Omen transitioned, leaving behind a profound legacy and an unfinished dream — a dream his community is now bringing to life. We are currently completing and preparing to release The Renaissance, the album he envisioned as a platform for the unsigned artists he loved, mentored, and believed in. This project features Omen’s original music and contributions from friends and collaborators reaching back as far as his LaGuardia High School days. The Renaissance is more than an album; it is a living tribute and will be released on his birthday - OMEN DAY - Aug. 21st. It would be such a testimony to his work and love for his community to have him honored, his memory carried on, through the very community he grew and thrived in. Thank you for your time and consideration. #producedbyomen #omen4eva #therenaissance2026 #omendayiscoming #harlemweek

There was a man and he had a dream and that dream was THE RENAISSANCE and it included some of the DOPEST MC's IN NYC! That genius's name was Sidney Brown Jr or known to the music industry as Omen. Though he passed away suddenly at the end of 2025 that dream is going to finally manifest this year and those same artists that have been apart of his vision from the beginning plus a few newbies, will be making magic in the studio over Omen created beats.
