Angela and Justin at The Bond, proving once again that the best wedding portraits do not have to happen in front of a garden, a brick wall, or the same safe backdrop everyone else uses. This mural is loud. Bold. Unexpected. Full of color and personality - just like the two of them. And that is exactly why it works. One of my favorite things about photographing weddings at venues like The Bond is finding backgrounds that feel less like “standard wedding photos” and more like something that actually says something about the day. The bright colors, the massive scale, the energy of it all...it gives these portraits a completely different feel. More modern. More fun. More memorable. Honestly, not every great wedding backdrop needs to be traditional. Sometimes it's better when it is not. Some venues give you a ballroom. Some venues give you hand-painted murals by local artists. The Bond gives you both! 🙌 Most couples think about the inside of their venue when they picture their wedding photos. The lobby. The staircase. The reception hall. But some of the best images from any wedding day live just outside the front door. You just have to be willing to look. The resemblance between Angela and Justin and this mural was too uncanny to ignore. We had no choice but to lean into it and create a little inception moment right here on their wedding day. Some wedding details are pretty... ...and then some stop you in your tracks. Marissa and Cory’s sweetheart table at The Willows at Ashcombe Mansion was absolutely one of those for me. I honestly do not share detail shots nearly enough, but this setup? I couldn’t not reshare it. This is how you do a sweetheart table. The JDK Group floral team absolutely crushed it with every layer of this design. The florals, the texture, the depth, the candlelight, the greenery wall - all of it came together so perfectly. And then there was that little strip of light hitting the neon “The Shipleys” sign at the top. That was not staged. That was not planned. That was just the sun showing off at exactly the right moment. And that’s the magic of a wedding day. You can plan beautifully. You can design intentionally. You can bring together an incredible team. But there are always these little unexpected moments that happen in real time - the kind you never could have imagined being even better than the original vision. 2025 was a very special wedding season for me🤍✨ As many of you know, I lost my Dad to cancer in 2023. I anxiously awaited for our wedding day to come feeling both over the moon happiness and soul crushing sadness knowing that my Dad wouldn't be there.... at this special place on this special day. However, we were surrounded by our closest family & friends as we said our vows and became husband and wife--Walking down the aisle to Zack is a moment I'll never forget.
